Hello, Edgegamers Organization. My pseudonym is P.A. Master, and I have chosen to join your forum (and consequently your ranks) for several reasons, which do have some relevance to the other reasons while remaining independent in their own right.

My first reason for joining is my interest in your Team Fortress 2 servers. I visit occasionally, and I have found them fun (even if I do generally prefer 24 to 32 man when it comes to max player counts). Regardless, after enough time there, I thought I might want to show my support to your cause and join here.

My second reason for joining is that I already have a friend in your ranks, one "Burning Shadow." He seems to have fun with you guys, I thought I might as well. We're both TF2 players, as it were.

My third reason is much less personal, and significantly more serious than the first two points. If you have been visiting the Steam Forums for TF2 as of late, you may or may not have noticed a thread discussing amusing and/or interesting server bans. To my dismay, and seemingly to the amusement of many, eGO has appeared more than once within the list of "offenders" that have banned people from their servers with (if the forums are to be believed, which they aren't) an almost zealot-like fervor.
The full thread can be found HERE.

I believe these reports to be mostly the "bandwagon effect" of people attempting to invent stories that will earn them attention on the Steam forums, and I don't believe a single individual within eGO is named in the ill treatment of players on-server. You are slightly more strict than other servers, but other than this, I personally have had no troubles with you (mind you, my tendency to curse has gotten me warned once or twice). However, the group movement against your organization is growing to an unhealthy level, and it may be required for someone to speak impartially regarding the goings-on. Without specific information, there is currently no way to actually gauge the situations that are claimed to have passed, but if some of the described bans are to be believed, it may be less fault in the Steam forums, and more in some of the activities that transgress on your server. Or, more likely, just the reverse.

Regardless, I have joined for the reasons above, and I believe I shall remain a (admittedly, not VERY) active member of the community.

Good day, sirs and madams,
-P.A. Master

Well, welcome to the group.

We've (the eGO's that is) have all seen where people have carried on about bans they feel are un-needed and such and things and doom and death and destruction. We have a whole forum dedicated to contesting bans and a whole panel of leadership to talk to.

on a more welcoming note:

Welcome to the clan man. We are more than happy that you decided to join the largest gaming community on the internet. We have a pretty solid system that allows us to do pretty well. We are a family and I know you'll see and feel what I mean shortly, begin to make friends and live it up here.

--->Also, we're always looking for people to get into the events we host here at Edge Gamers. Read about them and sign up HERE

--->Also, it would be good for you to get to know the leadership - these are the ones that we as admins report to and they are also responsible for running a very large portion of the community. Its always good to know who they are.
->Do so HERE!

-->Be sure to get out there and have fun, the key to real success here is just to have fun and enjoy the game. Get recognized and enjoy your stay here at Edge Gamers Organization

If you ever need help or just need a friend on your list feel free

o dear christ..

congrats to featherfoot for being able to read past the word "joined"

btw hey PA I don't have an acc on those forums but I've been keeping track of that thread for some time now and it's hilarious. Good job on the spy cap, that was badass.

Why thank you, sir, it's good to know that the spycap is something I'm finally being noted for! But remember your language manners here on eGO, darn it!

Hello P.A. Master, welcome. Yes we have seen the thread before, and we are aware of many more like it. Truth be told it is no real problem, if there is an abusive admin the player should contest their ban and bring it to our attention because there have been abusive admins that have been banned before because of testaments from players, logs are kept of everything so if a player points something out we should be able to determine easily who is telling the truth. But when a player does get banned on false pretenses the whole system breaks down and it is allowed to continue.

You can tell those people that they should try to better our community if banned wrongly by contesting and saying who banned them instead of bashing it. Edge Gamers Organization is a community and without all its parts working together it is not as good as it could be, this includes the regular pubs and random players who join.

Good to have you participate in our community!!

Man i have to get a second job or something, as soon as i see the word "eGO" on a website other than this one i have to read every freakin page looking for i dont know what. :facewall: Only 12 more pages out of 25 to go....

I don't pay much attention to the haters. I used to be part of the largest group in all of Guild Wars (The LaZy Nation. They're a single unified guild spread across 13 separate guilds in two alliances. With about 70-80 members per division, each member being put through a recruiting interview and being registered on the guild's website. They ran in a similar manner to eGO in terms of hierarchy) That guild used to catch a lot of flak from the Guild Wars community and even came under the ire of some of the administrators of the game, though we soon patched things up and had some direct dialog with ArenaNet staff themselves.

People will hate on things they don't understand or will find the biggest target and attempt to take it down. They attack eGO because they we are one of the few clans that has the integrity to actually enforce our own rules instead of give endless amounts of warnings and slap-on-the-wrist moderation. Sadly, many players believe themselves to be above the rules and above other players simply because they might be "better" at the game. Constantly demeaning players or using foul language. We bring THOSE guys down to Earth.

Not only do we hold players accountable for their actions, we hold ourselves accountable with how we handle those situations. We are much harder on ourselves than we are on the public. There have been many occasions when there is a wrongful ban that it will be overturned. Everything is put through a system of checks and double checks. We ensure that there is fair play for every person out there. From our best friends to even the people we don't really like all that much.

Do not worry over what some kid on the Steam forums has to say about Edgegamers or their servers. You've been here a while apparently and you seem smart enough to formulate your own opinion. Nobody's word, not ours or anyone else's, should influence YOUR opinion, my friend. Hope to see you on the servers!

After reading every page of that thread it was hard for me not to post in the steam forums in the defense of our clan.

To our friends from the Steam forums:

I hope that after you have taken the time to create an account here you will also participate in our discussions and in our servers. Please realize that we try to maintain an environment where anybody can play to have fun. That means that we have to enforce rules that prohibit obscene language and imagery among other things. We try to promote maturity and cohesiveness and occasionally our admins have to take care of individuals who do not adhere to our server rules. If any of you feel that you have been unfairly banned please post in the "contest ban" section of our forums. We are very selective of who we choose as admins and as in any organization some bad seeds do slip through.

Next time you join one of our servers, why no try to make friends with us instead of enemies. I cant speak for everyone here but i can definitively use some more friends. So hop in game and lets kill stuff together like civilized people.

i just read a few pages, cause no matter what, people are gonna hate when they get banned, or what not and gonna hate a server and get other people to hate with them, its a fact of life, but what they dont like is to follow rules, which are given out by that specific server, if you cant follow them play another server.

Thanks,
=(eGO)= Blasphemy

It's understandable that people would hate. If they just look at the numbers, the first thing that will come to mind is "damn, they ban a lot". But the people who get banned have it coming, mostly.

I was playing on the fun server once for tf2 and got banned because for some reason i had all crits, so everybody thought i was cheating. I contested the ban 2 minutes later and was allowed back on within half an hour (i missed the event, but oh well).

I play on the 2fort server A LOT, and there are plenty of people who just downright disrespect the other players and/or ignore admin warnings, and I for one feel a sense of justice when I see that "Player xxx banned. Respect other players!" pop up. Everybody feels the need to curse once in a while, even I have been warned with respect to that, but that's natural Lol But kids DO play on the servers, and we as a community have to respect that.

Anyway, I say, let them hate all they want. We're awesome and we know it! :-)

Oh, and welcome aboard!! I didn't get the part where you said although i do prefer 24-32 max players? 2fort is 32 players... 0=]

Alright guys, I don't feel like this should need to be said, but I'll do it anyway. Carmine is right on this one.

We don't need to be going over to the Steam forums and arguing our case. Those guys aren't going to read it, because they're posting there to specifically raise hell and anti-eGO sentiment. If they come over here and cause trouble, they'll end up getting themselves banned, and you know this as well as I do. No need to satiate the trolls' lust for mayhem; just stay out of it and play the games.

There will always be people against us, and the excuse is usually "But it's rated M for Mature." So? Act it. Simple as that. Either way, these threads are generally not at all concerning, because we have a strong base of players that enjoy our servers, our players, and the environment we promote. Put it this way: it's happened before, it's happening now, and will certainly happen in the future.

And as has been said already, everything in eGO is logged. Whether it's chatlogs, Ventrilo connections, website visits, you name it; it's recorded somewhere. If somebody's truly innocent, they'll be unbanned.

Let's stop arguing over this now and get back to welcoming PA Master before this has to be locked to prevent a flamewar. We're glad to have you with us, and I hope you enjoy your time here.
