Bad Day For Gaming

The other day I was playing CS when my computer completely shut down and wouldn't restart. I finally had time to tear it apart yesterday and found that my CPU is fried. :cursing: There's a nice little black spot on one side and all the silver on the other side is purple from getting so hot. With Christmas coming up in a few weeks I don't know when I'll have the money to build a new one; but I'll be back as soon as I can!

My only question is, what am I going to do now that I have no vidja games?!?! Someone can just :chair: and put me out of my misery! lol

It does, I'm bummed, BUT, on the positive side of things I can finally build a better system. I was running current software on old hardware, and my graphics card was less than appropriate for CS (GeForce 5500 FX). So I'll take advantage of this opportunity and build a nice gaming rig like I should have years ago. lol

You're about the right age, but he's from California. Come to find out you live in Mankato, which is funny because we drive to Mankato a lot to go shoppingt. Small world either way Good luck though, Minnesota needs more cool people in games, right?

I had the same thing happen, it was an AMD CPU and had a lifetime warranty. Lasted 2 1/2 years then died, They refused to honor the warranty because I bought it threw TigerDirect. Told the AMD customer service person I would not buy a single AMD product ever again. Intel FTW!

As far as my computer goes I'm pretty sold on going all out. I'd like to go all the way up to the i7, but that's some big money (3.3ghz i7 cpu = $999.00 on tigerdirect). Any feedback to whether investing in the i7 is worth it? From what I hear you can't go wrong with the i5 either.
