Just because it's the most expensive doesn't mean it's the best...

And comfort is another huge factor missed. If you have your headset on for several hours at a time, the extra 40 bucks you spent may very well make up for itself by keeping your ears from being sore.

I can vouch for the TB HPA2s, they're a very comfortable headset with great sound quality.





PS: Don't get Razer, they have shoddy build quality.

I've always wondered about Roccat products. Do you own any?

I have their mouse, the Roccat Kone, which is as good as any other gaming mice from respectable manufacturers like logitech or razer. I tested it against my g9 and my razer deathadder and I can confirm the Kone mouse does everything as good as those mice.

And I also ordered the headset I posted, the Roccat Kave 5.1. Should receive it today or tomorrow.Will post my impressions of the headset once I get it and test it.


Razer mice are good, but their audio products are less than stellar, especially for the price. I own their Barracuda headset ( payed 130 € or 190 USD )and it worked great at first, but now after 1,5 year of usage I'm starting to hear lots of static/hiss even at lower volume, something that wasn't present when I first bought it.

And I haven't abused the headset either, I always take special care for products that cost me that much so I'm less than impressed with the quality of their audio products.

IMHO, if you wanna spend that kinda $$ on that headset, then go nuts (as my pastor usually puts it). But in my opinion, I dont think they will provide the best comfort, & thats 1 of the main keys when it comes to getting a headset. I recently upgraded to the Plantronics Gamecon 777 & I have to say, its 1 of the most comfortable headsets ive ever had, if not the most comfortable. The sound is right on par with my previous headset. If you wanna save some $$, then I would definitely suggest either that headset or the 377 (777 comes w/ a usb connector, whereas the 377 doesnt).

no way will razor blow those away........turtle beach can be a contendor but i don't think razor is.....

5.1+7.1 are not gimmicks, on some headset, yes they are gimmicks but on higher end ones, no some produce true 7.1 surround sound. The Logitech G35 has been known to be an amazing headset and its only $100 on newegg.......beats any razor or turtle beach IMHO....turtle beach aren't bad though

How are the drivers for the Kone?

The drivers for the Kone have basically everything that the logitech "G" seriers drivers have.

U can adjust the dpi settings, u have up to 5 profiles to store your fav settings, u can adjust the sensibility of the mouse, polling rate and so on and so forth.

The driver menu is put together rly well, u won't be lost when searching the menu trying to find a particular setting u want to adjust.

Overall, a great mouse, on pair with any of the logitech or razer gaming mice.


Also, I received my Roccat Kave 5.1 headset last week. I tested it a bit playing CoD 4 and L4D2 and oh boy if I'm pleased with the sound it produces. IMO when comparing it against Razer's Barracuda headset, the sound coming from the Kave is just better overall.

Testing a headset is pretty difficult since everyone has their own criteria on "what sounds good" ( I'm not a tester and/or sound elitist ) so I'm speaking from my personal experience after using this headset for a few days.

While in-game, the highs and mids this headset produces are spot on and cristal clear and the bass has a bigger kick to it compared to the Barracuda's ( still a bit weak though when watching movies and listening to music ). 5.1 surround works perfectly, you can pinpoint your enemy position with such an ease it's ridiculous. Yoru ears WILL become your eyes...love it rly

When it comes to testing the Kave with music and movies, although the sound is still good ( on pair with or better than other 5.1 headsets in the same price range ), it is clear that this headset was built with the gamer in mind thus it just sounds better in games than it does watching a movie or listening to music.

The mic is detachable and fexible. It's a quality mic rly ( beats the Barracuda's mic by a mile ), speaking with mates over Vent, they said they can hear me loud and clear and without any background noise/interference.

This headset has a closed ear cup design so no background noise interference. The earcups have leather pads and when u put the headset on your ears won't touch the inner part of the earcups. Real comfy, although the leather can/could make your ears sweat after a prolonged use ( tbh I didn't encounter this problem ).

The only real gripe I have with how comfortable this headset is, is the padding on the plastic that connects the 2 earcups together. If you wear it for more then 2 hours at a time, it can start to feel a bit uncomfortable, but it's not that big of a problem rly.

Overall I'm really pleased with the Kave and the sound it's able to produce and can safely recommend it to anyone looking for a good 5.1 headset...although it's a bit difficult to find in some regions.
