Have you updated the other parts of your system like your sound card, which is also used when it comes to DirectX.

How about checking for newer versions of DirectX?

One world: Google.

It's happening to EVERYONE with Win7/Vista and/or an ATI card.

EA's workin on patch.

Minimum system requirements:

* CPU: Core 2 Dual Core 2.4GHz or AMD equivalent
* RAM: 2GB or more
* Video: Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX with 256MB of VRAM or ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro with 256MB of VRAM
* Hard drive: At least 7GB of free space
* Disc drive: Dual Layer 1x or faster DVD Drive
* Sound: Direct X 9.0c compatible sound card
* OS: Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP1, Windows 7

Recommended system requirements:

* Processor: Quad Core running at 2.8 GHz or equivalent
* Memory: 2 GB RAM (Windows XP) or 3 GB RAM (Windows Vista/7)
* GPU: nVidia 8800 GT graphics card with 512 MB of VRAM
* OS: Windows XP - SP3 or Windows Vista - SP1

dang man, seems like games coming out now are all asking for quads as recommended anyway, but you definitely won't be able to play this game at max

My dual core is saddened by the quad-core recommendation *cry*

as is mine, and from the benchmarks of dragon age, i'd have to say that having a quad core will significantly boost performance too...so it WILL play a huge difference
