So I got my new motherboard yesterday and everything installed perfectly, but in CSS my mic has alot of static, and the speakers static sometimes too (when i use my mouse scroll wheel)

I've tried the Vista 64 bit drivers and 7 (the Windows 7 drivers are the latest and Vista is off the CD)

Try turning the mic volume down a bit, if that doesnt work you could just have a stinkin mic ::)

Well I bought it last week so it's unlikely, especially since it worked fine 2 hours before.

If you can hear static when you move your mouse, you're getting some interference on your new motherboard. Something isn't grounded correctly.

Is your sound card built-in or is it one you moved over from your last?

If there is as way to turn down the volume and up the gain on the mic that should help. Or if its all output to the speakers and headphones check the source you're plugged into. 1/8th inch connectors can go bad.

Well my old motherboard was grounded the same exact way as this one, and I'm using the onboard sound, but I'm plugging the headphones into the front port on the case (same as what I did with the old board)

I have the volume on the headset turned all the way up and the sound in Windows turned down to about 20%

Have you tried plugging them into the back of the motherboard?

Also try turning the volume on your headset to ~50% and windows up a little louder.

I'll try that today.

I leave my back panel connector opened to my speakers so I don't have to break my back every time to plug them up :P

If the rear panel works you can but a 3.5mm audio splitter for a few bucks at your local computer/electronics store so you can have both your speakers and headset plugged in.

Also if you speakers don't get static when plugged into the rear I/O panel and your headset still does then you might need a new headset...
