USB Flash Drives

I've never really used one before since I do a lot of thing on my laptop or in the cloud. Any recommended programs I should install on there? Or tips on how to not lose it?

My 4gig flash drive has all the programs I like to use frequently. Mostly programming editors and such and the rest of the space is used to store the projects I am working on.

As for not losing it. That's up to you. I leave mine in a cheap plastic drawer set that's on my computer desk when I'm not using it

Best thing about a flash drive is that it's 100% flexible! I use my primary flash drive as a boot disk for netbooks / comps w/o cd/dvd/br drives. It's mighty handy for that. Use is up to you!

Losing it......

#1 You WILL lose it. I recommend never putting something on a flash drive that you forgot to put somewhere else. (i.e. I lost my flash drive and now my 350 page thesis is gone! Oh noes!) Always back it up!

#2 Pick a safe place to store it, and never change your location! I have a drawer next to my workbench where all my drives are lined up. If one's missing, it will leave a big hole! That way I can keep track of them.

As 3vlNomad stated, it's up to you! Whatever works for you is best! Just remember that you WILL lose it! Try not to store vital info on one without backing it up!

I have mine strapped to a lanyard, so I don't lose it.

ya i mainly move all my stuff around on a portable firewire drives because flash drives are too small and slow for the volume of info i need to access at a time but i do keep a lot of cheap 4gb flash drives around to give clients the latest mix downs of there tracks, this just works better now because cd's and dvd's aren't as convenient for that.

I have my flashdrive in my right foot shoe. I keep it there with some ducktape too. You never know when you have to MacGyver your way out of things.

I'm thinking of installing like antivirus or CC cleaner programs. Probably my Win7 boot iso as well. I just found out that my school's computer won't let you log off until all external drives are unplugged. A nifty popup shows up and tells you to uplug everything.
