Well i just got my New CPU AMD Athlon II X2 245 2.9GHz

This is where you guys come in!

And i was wondering in TF2 If i could turn on the muti core setting, And i know the Muticore setting is turned off by default, Can i turn it on even tho i have a dual core?

Thankyou for your time!

Multicore rendering is more of a test feature they have added and are collecting feedback on. Most people have stuttering issues with the multicore setting on unless you have at-least a gig of ram per core and even some still complain of the problem. If you enable it, I would recommend giving your feedback on the steam forums at www.steampowered.com Its basically Valve's way of trying to pave the way into their proprietary engine.

Yes you can. The command you're looking for is mat_queue_mode 2. Test it out since some people do have fps reduction problems due to the command, but others also have increased performance from it. Just the luck of the draw I guess. If you find that it increases your fps then add it to your autoexec.cfg found in "C:\program files\steam\steamapps\youraccountname\team fortress 2\tf2\cfg" if autoexec.cfg is not there than create one. Happy fragging.

I had no problems with Multi-Core, this is how it went for me:

I had a single core, played TF2 on Max with 4x AA and 16AA. Occasionally got an FPS drop.

Installed Triple Core. Enabled Multi-Core rendering. Never got an FPS drop.

Went back to a single processor(waiting for a new cooler).

Multi-Core is off now and I'm lagging like crazy with the same single core I had no problem with before. Even put on DX8 and still lag. Weird.

Regardless of what people say it'll help more people not worsen it for most people. TF2 hardly uses the extra cores anyway. When I checked my other 2 cores has like 10-20% CPU usage each when TF2 was up in multi-core.

i have a dual core and everytime i enbable multicore for tf2 i get a hl2.exe kernel error and the game hard freezes and crashes. i gotta keep it turned off on mine.

amd athalon 4200 x2 i is a sad panda.

Works well for me, but I can never run folding@home and play at the same time. It sucks but I deal with it.

Unfortunately in the war update valve really screwed something up with multi cores and amd.
The steam forums are full of people that are getting the dreaded BSOD with multi core enabled, o am that boat:(

I have the same problems.

For me, it's just grayed out.

I'm on a quad @ 3.4ghz, i enabled it and things seemed to run just as smoothe if not better.

Dunno.
