Orange Box and Old HL2 question?

Can I give my brother my old HL2 and DOD when I buy the Orange Box?

I am going to be getting the Orange Box soon and building a PC for my brother for his b-day/christmas. I want to hive him my old HL2 discs and DOD license if possible since essentially I will be buying all new licenses. Do i have to uninstall everything on my PC and start fresh w/ the Orange Box? Will this affect my Steam ID and admin rights? Can i give him my current DOD that i bought online? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.

Actually for Half-life 2 if you already have a copy through steam then you can send your extra copy of half-life 2 as a gift to your brother, any extra copies will show up on you steam control panel with a gift icon to push, then just put in your brothers e-mail and send it.

That's cool Steam thought about it already. So i guess I can load the old discs on the new PC and he can activate them later. Can I do this w/ DOD also? Thanks for the info Chemically!

Are you buying the orange box online? If so it will automatically detect any extra copies of any games, so you wouldn't have to change your account as far as I know,(it worked for me when I bought the orange box online to get TF, and HL episode 2, it automatically detected that I already had a copy of HL-2 and episode 1 running on my steam. As for DOD, I'm not sure about that do you mean you went out and bought another copy besides the one you have online? As far as I know the orange box does not include DOD, atleast mine didn't.

Yeah, you're right, no DOD in the orange box. Looks like he'll have to spend some $$ if he wants it. He'll probably end up buying the orange box anyways. Thanks again. I was planning on actually buying the box... i just hate paying for something and never actually be able to touch it... makes it feel too much like car insurance.

thats a good question jester, I'm not sure about that since I have no experience with Xbox live, do they have they're own central hub for their servers, or do all their games conicide with pc servers?
