Avatar: A Review

I've seen it in 3D and the visuals are just stunning. It may not be his best film story wise but it is still excellent.
 
man the 3d didnt work for me at all, like my friends were reaching out at stuff thinking it was there, but none of the movie looked 3d to me with the glasses off it looked the same just not as clear for me. i liked the movie but i didnt enjoy the fact i didnt get 3D!!!
 
Oh boy...I don't even know where to start with this movie. I have never been so immersed and entranced by a movie before in my life. I literally could have sat there for another 2 hours and not even realize it was a 4 hour movie.

This is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. Now, I will say that I am a veryyy easy going person on movies. Movies that I dislike are few and far between, but Avatar really is an incredible movie.

Going to the midnight showing at IMAX was also an amazing experience in itself. I hope that I will enjoy it just as much in 2D as I did in 3D, but I doubt it.

Another great thing about this movie is that the 3D didn't play with me that much. They didn't do things that purposefully flung out at you like you were a 5 year old at Disney. They used DEPTH, and holy hell did they do an amazing job. The depth in the movie was spectacular, and made everything come alive that much more.

And I'm not even embarrassed by the fact that I was rooting for the Na'vi. I am generally against humans in all movies of this type. In a heartbeat I'd go to that tree to turn myself blue.

Not to mention I love Zoe Saldana.

I got there an hour and a half before showtime and still was last in line. Front row at IMAX for the lose.
 
I give it a 10/10...

Saw it in 3D IMAX (Esquire IMAX of Sacramento). Had the very front row and in the middle, even there was a great view. Middle - Middle would have been nice but how it was it felt every thing was right there.

Movie never slows down, everything is well done. Nothing is cheaply done, all very well done. 4 years to make the movie and 4 years of waiting was worth it.

2D will look weird now.... but meh Ill get used to it.
 
i loved this movie.. and yes ms Zoe is def the bomb.

i cant watch in 3D(having one eye blows btw) but i thot the movie looked great in the reg theater as well

This is the best movie I have EVER seen in my whole life. And the chills you get every now and then in the movie, just great!

The animation, the effects.. Just Whhoaaaaaa!

I really recommand this movie for cinema.

I watche it in 2D as my eyes can't handle 3D that well..

I think i'm in love with michelle rodriquez now, love her line in the movie flying the choppa "you ain't the only one with a gun b#%$*!
 
my opinion the movie was okay. the story was like "what?? a alien love story?" funny thing is that i watched it with my pastor and hes like the movie would've been much better if they didn't mate. LOL. but i agree that the 3D is the way to go.
 
I saw it in IMAX 3D and I thought it was just fantastic. It looked spectacular and I really liked the story too. Yes, thinking back on it there are some plot holes to it (definitely see the Ewok/Stormtrooper effect, just not as embarrassing as in Return of the Jedi), but what story doesn't have plot holes to it? This is not the mind altering movie like 2001: A Space Odyssey, this is along the lines of Star Wars or the stories of King Arthur. This has that great American appeal of the underdog, the down on his luck, who is able to rise to the top by his strength and courage. That plot element has been used for hundreds of years but it's still used, and usually very appealing.

So, if you liked Star Wars, even if it's just the very original, or The Lord of the Rings, or some other epic and classic story, you'll probably like this too.
 
I saw this the other day at a local IMAX theater and I thought the story was OK, but the visual effects made me wish I had brought another pair of boxers...
 
Yeah, saw it again in good seats (which were a pain to get, there are still lines) and it was better than the first time because the 3D stuff wasn't distorted like it was when I sat in the very front the first time. A really immersive movie.
