I'd say I would get it. But then I'd be lying to myself because I don't have the time to start another game.

Oh god I have it... I used to tear it up on that game. IMO, that was the greatest of the entire battlefield series, if for no reason other than the air combat. No Battlefield game has ever come close to BF1942 in the way of dogfights.
