Problem with installing games

Whenever i put a game in and click install this always pops up. It's only done it with quake 4 and cod2. The weird thing is it never did this before cause i've had both games on this computer. the only thing that changed was i installed Nortons 360. I've tried google but i cant seem to get a answer

thats the reason why. norton has never really been that great of software, not to mention that it causes issues. i feel sorry that you got that software. i would suggest getting trend micro, by far the best antivirus software out there, & it wont cause havoc with your games. only possible solution is to remove norton & install a different antivirus (there are 30 day free trials available) so do trend micro 30 day free trial or get trend micro full product & then u wont run into that issue.

Well i know how crappy nortons is and i've tried to explain my dad that but hes like u put it on or ill take ur comp away so im like fine w/e

Step 1: Uninstall Norton 360.

Step 2: Run the Norton Removal Tool.

Step 4: Install games / software as you wish.

Step 5: *CRINGE* Re-Install Norton 360... It really IS a useless piece of software, but if you want to use it, feel free to install at this point.

I will try to write a registry work-around for future issues and post it here later. The above will, however, get you running for now.

Well heres the thing My dad uses the same program aswell and He's played all his games fine even both of those that i tried. So why wont it work for me but work for him?

I use this one. they have the free version or you can use the 30day trail of the full version if your not planning on using it for long.

not sure why its good on ur dads comp but not yours. are the specs any bit different on yours vs his?

I'd bet my "e" that you're on a non-administrative account and that the file which "isn't there" just has 740 permissions on it (or equiv).

Uninstall Norton and Use COMODO Internet Security. Free forever and I never get viruses. Comes with a firewall, antivirus and all the other basics needed for internet security.

Ang u may be right although im already uninstalling it. It takes forever to uninstall it
