Setting up a joystick in DoD:S

I found my old joy stick, and was trying to set it up in DoD:S.

The thing is after I enabled it and tried to set it up I almost went around punching babies in the face I was so frustrated with it.

I'm trying to set it up so that I still use my keyboard to move/strafe, switch weapons, and use binds/chat/voice chat, and then set up my joystick to look around and shoot. Pretty much just want my joystick to take the role of my mouse.

All of the things that I read online were far to complicated for someone that has no real experience with joysticks to understand. Even the way steam explained it made my head explode.

Is there anyone in eGO that knows what to do, and could post instructions that I could understand? It would be greatly appreciated.

Might want to ask this in the tech help forums... I would like to know my self... Found an old logitec game controller I would not mind setting up so I can play from bed
