It (BF1942) has its strengths and weaknesses, but I personally enjoyed BF2 much more.

The only reason I played BF1942 as long as I did (from around 2002 thru 2004/5) is because I got into Desert Combat (an extremely popular total-conversion mod based on modern day military warfare).

except for the what I mentioned above, I would have rather Desert combat become a full game than what they did with BF2.

No, I meant what mode is the server set to? IIRC, there would be an option to turn vehicles off/on. Or was that BF2? I do not remember.

As far as I remember, the option to turn vehicles on or off is only available in BF2.

I'm gonna have to try and dig up my copy of both BF1942 and BF2. Personally, I always enjoyed BF2 more, especially when it was set to Infantry Only. But I might just have to give BF1942 a shot if eGO will be playing it.

DC great MOD!!! Logged a ton of hours when it first came out. But it was soon replaced by BF2... UAV ONLINE!!

Yes, I believe this is correct. BF2142 has the same functionality. One recommendation though. If we plan to use this please make sure its implemented on small maps... Its painful running accross a huge map just to cap a flag....

Did anyone play the bfvietnam, It was an expansion to bf1942. I love that game. I logged hundreds of hours in a huey gunship.

got it loaded, patched, updated and ready to roll last night. got on around 10:30 est and no one was on the server. i was a sad panda. played a few other servers. it is fun but you definately feel the datedness (word?) of it.

controls are a little clunky after playing tf2 constantly for the past year...lol

would be more fun with a few eGO's on it.

best thing about it? no freakin uav's to call down artillery on yo' head. sniping is a hoot in this game
