So, I just bought GTA IV off the Steam sale for $7.49 (great deal!!). I started to download GTA IV yesterday night & since I have crappy internet, it only landed to about 30%-ish about 24hrs. later. I started to play Darkest Hour (a mod for Red Orchestra) & then when I exited the game & looked at my GTA IV download, it was no longer "downloading" & was no "updating." It's now at 2% & I'm wondering why this happened & would like more specifics on this. I believe this happened to me with Call of Duty: World at War a couple months ago too. Help, please?

Maybe a Steam glitch? Unless you played Darkest Hour for so long that the game finished DLing and is now updating with the latest patch

grr i hate that im downloading a game i play another and boom i have to start all over i think its a glich but then again when its updating it goes a whole lot fast ahh idk

Well, I only played Darkest Hour for maybe 1.5hrs. or so & I'm pretty sure my internet isn't THAT fast. Maybe it IS a glitch, though.

Well, the "update" just turned to 4% a couple minutes ago.

It's still "updating." Any other suggestions or comments or help regarding this issue?

Update:
I now have the feeling that GTA IV has finished downloading but is now patching. The reason I believe that it has finished downloading is that I can see "Grand Theft Auto IV" in "Add or Remove Programs."

Here's a screenshot:

4GB's is wayyy off.

The game is exactly 15GB's for me, without any mods, etc.

Hmm, I see. I just found out something else. CoD: WaW is only about 13mb in "Add or Remove Programs." It's actually around 13gb but I guess since it was the Steam version, some things were mixed up. Some of my other Steam games aren't showing the correct size in "Add or Remove Programs" either. Weird..

WaW should be 7.

But, if the game is working fine then don't worry about it. You could just click the game folder and see how large it says it is.

1. It was only downloaded
2. GTA might also have updates, so STEAM updates it for you ;)

It's almost done "updating" so I'll just see if it works after it finishes.
I look at the GTA IV folder & went to Properties. It says that the entire thing is 14gb. Is that around what it should be?

Oh, and btw, CoD: WaW was 11gb with all of the updates, etc.

Alright thanks, it is not at 14.8gb approaching the 15gb mark as it finishes up with its stuff.
