Photoshop ''animating'' help needed

[Craften I Am]

Well the title says it all, when I'm making some animated signatures in my photoshop the .gif always turns out really ugly.
I was wondering, is there a better program I can make my signatures animated in or is there a way to make good looking animated signatures in photoshop?
I'm using CS4 Extended btw.
