Need help w/ mic :P

So i got a turtle beach headset for xmas
i've got the headphones and everything set up.
I can't seem to get my mic to work on it though.
I've tried plugging it into 2 jacks that it will go in.
I've tried setting it to default in the system settings.
It picks up sounds just not my voice can anyone offer me any help?

Make sure the mic is turned up on the sound settings in the control panel, you may even need to do the +20-30 boost.

blah still not working maybe i set up something wrong any other suggestions

Hmm, is there a volume control on the headset for the mic, or an on-off switch?

nope.
and in the settings for my comp it recognizes the headset as speakers not as a headset ._.
