Okay all, so I maxed out my PSU today on Christmas (lol) tried to install a new HDD and neither it nor my second video card appear to be working. (Code 12:Not enough system resources) on the Video card. The HDD shows up in device manager but doesn't appear under the hard disk drives section. Not sure if that's an entirely different issue or not. My question to you guys is: do I need to upgrade PSU or is something else up?

System Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 945 3.0GHz 125w
Cooler: CoolerMaster v8
Case: CoolerMaster HAF 932
MB: MSI NF980-G65
RAM: 4GB OCZ Obsidian DDR3 1600 (@1333)--> 1600 doesn't boot right at this point.
HDD(s): WD Caviar Blue 320GB HDD, WD Caviar Blue 640GB HDD<--This one does not show up under Hard Drives.
GPU(s): Nvidia 9600GT Superclocked EVGA
PSU: Apevia Iceberg 680w
Disk(s): Lite-On SATA DVD+RW 24x, Lite-On IDE DVD-RW 22x w/ Light-scribe
Other: Keyboard: Logitech G11, Mouse: Logitech G5, Novint Falcon, HP c6280 Printer, Microsoft Zune, Logitech z4 Speakers, Turtle Beach x-52 Headset.

WORKING ON LINKING PARTS

Not entirely sure about the specific error you got.. but some tips I usually follow:

1. take your graphics card off and put it back on, unplug your hdd cables from mobo and plug the back in.

2. if #1 doesnt work, unplug the new things you plugged in (basically make it like it was before you added the new stuff)

3. if #1 doesn't work and #2 works, you MIGHT need a new psu

I'm not entirely sure though, I'd try googling the error you got and see what other people think though

just to be sure. is everything placed in correctly? and how much amps does your psu have?

As far as setting everything goes, i did not touch the video card aside from spraying it with a can of air from a little ways off. So it should still be set correctly. Ill try unplugging the HDD and see what it does, my guess is my video card will come back. I also linked you guys everything that you need so you further help out.

Okay, after setting and resetting everything, I took out the new HDD and the video card came back. So i decided that the PSU couldnt supply enough power to the system.

I picked out this PSU to upgrade to: Black Widow

Opinions?

850W is abit to much for your system IMO.
It's a modular PSU, so you can pull out the cables you don't need which is very handy.

I'm using and recommending THIS PSU, and it's more than enough power and cables for me.

Some sys specs from me:

Same case as you (HAF 932)
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4
2x2GB of Corsair ram @ 800mhz
AMD Athlon 6400+ (think it draws about half the power your cpu does..)
and the grand finale: A pair of HIS Radeon HD 4870, 1GB GDDR5 ram.

Plus a fan control thingy, a WDC 1TB HDD and a dvd thing.

So it's enough for me. It's not a modular PSU though, so you'll have to hide the cables : )

ALSO! It's black! Fits perfectly in the HAF932 : ))

I'm sitting on a Silverstone ST1200 1200w modular 80+ cert psu.

4x6pins going into 2x gpu's
4x hard drives
i7 920 @ 2.8ghz
6gb corsair dominators (3x2gb)

It all depends on what you need. If you wanna run dual or triple graphics you will need MORE POWA! Hdd's eat up power too, especially the bigger ones I think.

My suggestion: Get a 1kw psu that is 80+ silver certified (or better) and is modular, that way you will have enough for whatever you need in the future

I'm pickin up that Corsair 750w, just throwin that out there.

My opinion on the matter is that you can never have enough power. Sure you may only need 750W's now, but if you go big that leaves room for upgrades in the future. I myself got a 1000W PSU and my power usage is estimated no more than 600W. So I left myself a lot of room to play with.

In the end it's up to you, but future proofing is always a plus.

That's the PSU I got. It's not modular which is kind of a pain, but it does it's job very well and it's cheap.

I almost got that PSU but it would clash with my red scheme that i currently have.

So peel the sticker off? black spray paint? dremel? lol maybe not dremel.. but you get the idea, don't let colors distract you from something you think is good

The one thing i really wanted was that the PSU be modular.

Modular PSU's are nice :D

I started buying modular as soon as they came out, what a godsend
