As the title says, windows 7 does not recognize my headset. I know it work on my PC and the headset works since I tested it on my brothers laptop. Ive been trying to find a solution myself but so far nothing.

Please fellows eGO members, help me!!!!

PS any info you need just ask for it, but im preatty sure is that windows 7 does not recognize my headset.

@Awptimus yes it came with a CD, but lucky me I cant find it

@Oprah 3.5mm I believe, since they look like those ine the headphone... and is not USB...

If its not usb no drivers are required, it should be plug and play, right into the headphone jack on your sound card.

Did you upgrade to Windows 7 or did it come on the machine? If you upgraded it make sure the sound card drivers are correct.

this
whatever audio components you have, search their drivers that are compatible with windows 7. i had to do the same thing for my sound with realtek high definition audio drivers for windows 7, or else i had this stupid annoying buzz in all my sound

I did found the CD of the sound card, but when im installing it, a message appears that the hardware (meaning the sound card) cant be found in the computer. Still I am using it since the beginning as my audio output.

Also, the computer DOES recognize the card, since it present the name "SB Live! 24-bit" in the sound settings.

I bought a new hard disk, and installed windows 7 from the start. I've also told windows to auto search for the best drivers for the sound card, but it tells me that they are up to date.

well, then its now recognizing the correct drivers, they may work for sound but, not for everything, go to the website of the sound card and download them there.

ya you need to make sure you're downloading windows 7 compatible drivers. the audio drivers that come with my asus mobo disk doesn't run on windows 7 for me, because the disk isn't compatible, but i downloaded them from the internet and everything was glorious
so forget about the CD install, and go for google "blahblah audio drivers windows 7"

I never use the included cd for any drivers, including external devices like printers, the cds are not updated they have the drivers that first come out with the products so, they could be weeks or moths old. Always if you can download the drivers directly from the site.

Dont fret because windows 7 is still new a lot of drivers are not yet out to support certain equipment or software. Hell my motherboard's audio drivers still dont work and thats one thing that Windows 7 still has an issue with a lot of sound cards and audio drivers are not working with Windows 7 at the moment.

Here's another thing I dont understand. When I used the mic on the messenger, it worked fine and I was using windows 7, but then I tried to use it on anything else and it didn't worked. Its like the PC dont want to let some programs use the mic.

Also, I searched and found what I believe to be the driver for my card, but when I try to install it, a message appear saying that there's no hardware installed which would require the drivers.

It could be that those are not the drivers, but I cant find any other possible driver for the card

Just so you know, the sound card is a Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit, or at least thats what the PC says it is.

Sorry for the long time, but I just given up on my sound card, since it seems that its not compatible with wind7. Now I just want to be able to use my headset 100%. I still have sound, but if Im not mistaken is because the PC thinks that they are stereo, not headset.

Please, please anyone out there must know what I need to do? Can you help me??
