You guys really need to show some class. It doesn't matter what religion you are or even that he's a religious figure at all, the point is that he deserves as much respect as anyone else. It's very cruel of you to say that he can just be replaced; do you feel this way about people you know personally? Respect your elders (not to mention anyone else with health trouble)

Remember, eGO is all about having respect for everyone - young and old.

I find the act completely wrong and of poor taste.

I say the same with some of these replies in this thread. People... A man had an attempt of harm against him. This has spiraled completely out of control and you people should be ashamed.
1) There is absolutely nothing funny about this... Do not laugh.
2) Just because you may not be Catholic (of what belief you are does not belong here) does not mean you may "poke fun" at an attack, he is still a person. Show some damn class.
3) Show some maturity please. When you see someone get pushed down the stairs do you stand there and laugh at them or go and try to help them. Guess what, the pope just got pushed down the stairs.

You are devout and loyal members of this community. Even if this is the Off Topic forums there is still a necessary amount of respect you need to show towards others. I am disgusted at the moment. That is all, good day.
