if you want a better pc i would just get a new video card IMO

i agree w/ reflex. besides, just a lil heads up, you cant upgrade much on a laptop in case you decide to get 1. only possible thing to upgrade is the memory, which is the #1 thing most people do to their laptops if they wanna speed it up. just figured id give ya a lil heads up bout that.

this,

dont waste money, unless you really need portability

you can just get a netbook if you want potability

Well Im just interested in playing CSS and thats about it. I really dont game anymore and sitting at a desk all the time starts to annoy me. I found a good laptop at $1049 with a Core 2 Duo, ATI 4650, 4 gigs of ram and 500GB harddrive.

You could probably get a good $600-$700 if you sell it on Craigslist. Just talk it up with some good adjectives and people bite.

I had a p7805u, and it played CSS flawlessly. Only problem was that it weighed 12+lbs. A bit ridiculous to be caring around in my backpack all the time.

My solution: I got a netbook, and have a beast of a pc waiting for me at home.

Btw, whoever said all you can upgrade in a laptop is the mem, in my p7805u you could upgrade the processor, ram, and hdd's. Heck, you could even swap out the screen for one with a higher native res.

Thanks putty, good suggestion and cheaper than the one i was looking at. But not by much. Like i stated Im looking for mobility. I drive an hour to work and school almost every day. And have no family local and its nice to take it with me where ever i go

well thats for standard laptops. now its obvious that your talking about a gaming laptop, which yes, you can upgrade alot of the features. i do agree w/ putty that if its just for school work, i highly suggest the netbook & leave the gaming to home. netbooks are ultra cheap w/ great battery life.

Yep. I have my $1200 rig at home to play anything I want; meanwhile I have my HP Mini 110 for mobile stuff. It's a decent computer for web / word processing. Heck I even had Visual Studio on here. A plus, my battery is ~8hrs, so no need for my charger.

There was one laptop very similiar to mine for ~$600, I'll do some research when I'm free tonight and post it

After some browsing on TigerDirect, I found these:

Asus G51VX-RX05 Refurbished Notebook PC - Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 2GHz, 4GB DDR2, 320GB HDD, DVDRW, 15.6", HDMI, eSATA, Vista Home Premium
This thing has a GTX 260M. It's $800, and refurb'd, but you can get a warranty if you're iffy about it.

Acer Aspire AS5738DG-6165 TriDef 3D Notebook PC - Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.20GHz, 4GB DDR2, 320GB HDD, DVDRW, 15.6" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 3D

I'm not too crazy about Acer, but this has an ATI Radeon HD 4570. I think that's a good card, not sure though; I don't know much about AMD / ATI.

Gateway? NV5337u

This had a decent video card, and it's from Gateway, which I seem to like.
I'm sure you could find it cheaper from a retailer, since this is straight from Gateway.
Plus it has a 6cell battery, which is the same as in my netbook (8hrs). Granted that's a bigger screen and stronger hardware, so that 6 cell will be under strain, meaning less than 8 hours.

I'd say around $400 bucks maybe a bit more because you got a decent monitor in there.
