Chicago dedicated

Notice: I know nothing about servers.

But doesn't Windows cost something, and Linux free? Get Windows, put Linux on yourself.

Why do you need a dedicated? Those cost A LOT

Why not just buy a 100tic?

(about the OS, linux provides better rates. to get the same from windows you have to run a program in the background or something to get it to perform better)

Definately linux will be cheaper if what you plan on running can be on linux (looks like it even says $25 a month to have windows on it). That's some serious hardware, how many servers do you plan on running geez?

Im in a new clan now. and im buying this, so we can make the clan big. I asked on here because noone was online. and yes it does cost alot, 365 a month. but, i can afford it.

Linux will be better, however like others say just get a 100 tick or something, just because you can afford it doesn't mean you should get. I run a website and video company, I can afford to rent a whole server, actually I probably can get an actual server (well I have a small one), and the internet, but that doesn't mean I have to. I pay $20 a month and I can put 20 sites through that account and have ftp access to each site, now why would I pay $400 a month to rent a server instead?

I didn't really dig into the site, but for that server they advertise the bandwidth which is useful... but how fast is their net connection hey give you? The system should be able to handle whatever you throw at it no problem, but if you don't have the connection to support it then when you do get big and popular like most clans want your gonna have to handle all of those being filled.

I mean I ran like 5/6 servers off of a single 2Ghz quad and 8GB of ram, I only have a 2 Mb upload speed so no way I could handle all the servers being full, but I had a nice variety.
