Okay guys, I need some help with getting my TF2 server working correctly.
Whenever I make a dedicated TF2 server using the Team Fortress 2 Dedi server tool in steam, I usually ask one or two of my friends to try and join it, but they reply back saying that the "connection failed after 4 retries". This is what gets me worked up because I know for a fact that the ports required for steam and its servers are fully opened.
I also know my server can be seen because when I ping the port "27015" at canyouseeme.org I get this:
Success: I can see your service on 67.35.89.59 on port (27015)
Your ISP is not blocking port 27015
I also did a double-check of that port buy shutting down my dedicated server to make sure that it wasn't just showing my the port being opened and it said:
Error: I could not see your service on 67.35.89.59 on port (27015)
Reason: Connection refused
Knowing that, I can be confident that my server is at least ping-able(in other-words, can bee seen) through that port.
Now when I went to go add my server to a monitoring site such as http://www.game-monitor.com , I filled out everything correctly and when I click Add Server I get this:
Engine: "Steam: Half Life 2/Source"
Querying 67.35.89.59:27015...
Failed: No server response found
I also tried the site Edgegamers uses, gametracker.com, and it still gives me an error message.
So now I have no idea whats causing my server not to be findable by other people, or the server monitoring sites.
So if you guys would like to help me out here, then:
IP: Port 67.35.89.59:27015
1.) Either go under your Steam server favorites -> Add server -> Enter the IP: Port provided above -> find games at this address
OR
2.)Go into TF2, open your console, and type
connect 67.35.89.59:27015
If anyone is able to see or join my server, let me know ASAP before I go of the wall with this.
P/S: I will keep the server up as long as I can today and tomorrow (Friday)
between 7am-5pm Eastern time, since I live in southern Florida.
P/S/S: Windows Firewall is disabled since I have a custom copy of Windows XP SP3.
Pics with proof of my ports being open: (port list is on the left of the picture)
