Anybody have some suggestions about my new video card? I put it in but when I plug the monitor into it, nothing shows up. There's a white slot which might be for a digital cord, anybody know?

Do you have power going to it? It most likely requires a 2x3 pin, or PCIE is often labeled on the PSU's cable.

Does an old PCIE card work in the slot? If so, your slots good. Try the new card in someone else's computer. If the problem still persists your card's DOA, RMA it.

Did you enable the dedicated card in your bios? (Only applicable if you have an integrated card on your motherboard).

If you have a blue slot and a white slot just match up your plug color with the color of the slot at the back of the gfx card. Plus a white one will not fit in a blue one. (VGA = blue DVI = white).

IS power connected to the gfx card properly, what type of gfx card is it? what type of PSU do you have? A little more info will help us alot.

Another idea, is your monitor on the corresponding cord?

I know I have DVI & HDMI plugged into my monitor, so I have to toggle between input methods when I switch devices.

It has power because the fan on it is moving very fast. The monitor did turn on once when I plugged it in but none of my programs showed up.

That means its probably registering as a second monitor, right click go to properties and set it as the primary.
