AA and AF?

So I just assembled my new build the other day, and I was messing around with TF2 settings, in this case AA and AF. Right now I'm using 2x AA and 4x AF, and if I try any other combinations, for the most part on a map like Black Mesa I get purple textures everywhere. Just wondering if I'm not able to increase the AA or AF but I think i should be able to.

Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black
Asus M4A79XTD EVO Motherboard
G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB DDR3
ATi Radeon 5750 1GB

Increasing the AA & AF increases the image / texture quality, but it also increases the strain on your video card. Maybe your card can't handle it?

Try re-installing your drivers.

I'm not sure how it couldn't but ok. I might try reinstalling the drivers then.

It's not that big of a deal just wondering.

Hmm. His card can handle it just fine. Reinstall the drivers, and if that doesn't work, Defrag the game.

If that still doesn't work, I'd reinstall TF2.

Could be getting hot too, try to bump up the fan speed to around 70% or so.

Pro a Heat problem. Although that card could easily handel TF2, not that demanding of a game. How's your airflow

How would I go about increasing the fan speed of the card?

How do I respond to this? :P I have 3 x 120mm fans 1 in rear and 2 in front and 1 x 140mm fan; it's an Antec 300 Illusion. They're all running on low.

With ATI's overclocking tool.

In the Catalyst Control Center, go to the ATI Overdrive tab and click the little lock icon to unlock it, and from there it shows the fan speed, and adjust to whatever you find best.

(This is coming from memory, sorry if I got it wrong)

ya that is odd that you would be getting purple blotches everywhere, tho sometimes it happens in CSS also. you don't have anything set in console to disable AA/AF or HDR or anything do you? because if you do then no wonder it isn't working properly.
i haven't played TF2 so i don't know if its the same as CSS in that respect, but you could also try to force AA/AF through the catalyst control center instead of in game settings, and see if the same thing happens

got a pic of those purple blotches?

It could just be the game not loading the level correctly. Try to defrag the game files through Steam too. The 'purple' (seemed pink to me) things appeared in CSS for me a long time ago, I just can't remember how I fixed it.

oh ya thats right i forgot. do not load AA/AF while you're already inside of a map. you may need to load up the settings and exit out of the game and back in completely, i think thats how i needed to fix it with CSS. hell i might even had to have restarted my computer - but it always got that purple moss all over the floor in tunnels on dust2 if you altered the setting
