Corsair Hydro H50 Water Cooler

yes true........water-cooling is a great cooling option as it is much better than air

The only thing i hate about air-cooling is the dust, my aftermarket GPU-Cooler get dust stuck in the fins and it really annoys me because its so hard to get it out.....compressed air FTW i guess

The only bad thing about coolers like the H50 and Coolit Domino is that the radiator is too small......leading to performance number of only mid-high end air coolers

There is this liquid cooler out there called NorthQ Siberian Tiger II and it is a dual radiator while holding the same concept as the H50 as maintenance free.....i really want this NorthQ but its impossible to find, atleast its not in the US...its for like the UK and other countries except US and i can't find it, same price range tho as the Corsair H50 but it will offer much better cooling due to the Dual Radiator and Dual 120mm fans
i would say the H50 equates to a high end air cooler

(note the ultra 120 used to be the besT air cooler)

yes true.........but i honestly dont want a jet engine, yea its amazing how noctua gets such high CFM while sounding virtually soundless lol, thats y they are so good....but yes they are expensive so i would have to sacrifice noise because i am not going to pay $20 for a single fan

cooler master has their own fans that match the cfm/noise of the noctua ones except they only cost 10 bucks, i'll stick with those.
this does seem like a decent alternative to those that do not have the room in their case for such huge monsters to be considered top of the line coolers, like myself.....just that damn price tag

yea the new cooler master fans aren't too shabby

and yes the H50 does beat out a True.........the True has long since been king of the air coolers :)

the true is only beaten by the Coolermaster hyper 212+, the H50 and the noctua one you talk of

I get lower numbers with my Lapped Q6600 / Lapped Tuniq tower 120 than i did with a regular q6600 with a regular true

If the TRUE was lapped i'm sure it would be better

haha indeed you are correct.....modded/lapped True's were top of the line even after the regular ones were de-throned, people had low pressure True's and all that which still gave them some crazy temps...basically modded True's still reigned king even after coolers came out that were better
Of course now, these new HSF's like the Noctua and the Megahalem win out

As for the hyper 212+......isn't that a fairly low end CPU cooler?? i see it gets beaten by many many coolers, well its several Celsius higher than a Cooler Master V8

man i kinda want to get this. i know it will help me OC my cpu more. its difficult now with the stock cooler because with 4 cores unlocked it runs hotter at 1.425v than as a dual core, so right now i can only OC to a max of 3.5ghz with 206 bus speed and with prime95 and intel burn test i push 61c max. that is a little higher than i want it, i know that it will never get that high with other programs but i want a cooler that will be able to keep a good temp with hopefully a stable 3.8ghz OC.
only thing is in canadian dollars this thing will cost me 120 bucks - which i really don't think i can justify since i could get a decent enough cooler for 40-50. i dunno...im on the fence with this cooler

On the fence with the H50?? IMHO don't fall for it, 120 canadian is way overpriced and this definitely aint worth that much........the CPU cooler im really interested in right now other than the Noctua is the new Thermalright Venomous-X which is the real successor to the TRUE (once cpu HSF king) Im eagerly waiting for benchmarks/reviews to start rolling out for the venomous-x to see if it will re-take the throne as the new cpu HSF king

well that'll be a good option if your case can fit it, but as i stated in your thread...well im sure you'll see it there

I think some people forget one thing... when you say "Hey my computer is that temp with XXX brand air cooler" you are forgetting to add in what your AMBIENT air temp is. Cooling is a measure of the change in temp... in order for you to accurately compare your air cooler to this liquid cooler, you would have to standardize the temperature to account for the ambient air temp.

Much like dyno plots for cars are standardized or and stastical analysis is standardized... no standardization mean not a "fair comparison"

If I weren't in the middle of a major "case mod" (or removal) I would have considered the H50 when I saw it at BB last week... not a bad price for it... a little more than my Zalman 9500 cost me...

yea the H50 is on sale at best buy for like $60.......$20 cheaper than retail

wish they had it on sale in canada, or even in stock....not even listed on bestbuy.ca. doesn't say (that i can see) when the sale ends either....i'd love for it to hold out for another 2 weeks but i doubt it

the sale for it has been on for a while so it might be a permanent one?? prob not tho considering its best buy

I think they cut the price because the tag for it at the store I went to was a price drop not a sale... so it looks to be more lasting than just a sale.

I dropped my temps by 5C after replacing the two huge fans on the HAF932 with 7x 120's.

I idle at 30C now :D

I'm actually thinking about getting the H50, probably do a better job than this older cousin of the NH-D14. I just really hate having to take off and reapply AS5

lol no.....it doesn't outperform a NH-D14, it can come somewhat close but no

Honestly, the only thing holding the H50 back is the radiator...its wat holds most of the all-in one water-cooling kits back....except for of course the NorthQ Siberian Tiger II which has a dual radiator but its only sold in countries other than the U.S

If the H50 had a dual radiator i would probably buy it......replace the top fan with 3x120mm fans and then put the dual radiator on it....omg i smell EPIC cooling.....it would outperform the highest end air cooler but be a bit slower than custom water-cooling setups and loops, right smack in the middle

Thats y i kinda want a NorthQ badly but its like impossible to find in the U.S.....they sell it in UK and European countries mostly :glare:

I might just think about buying my uncles water-cooling setup.......easy to get for me and its worth the money/deal hes giving me

he didn't say the nh-d14 he said its older cousin model, meaning the nh-u12p...which yes it probably does out perform

I never really ever wanted liquid cooling, air cooling is fine for me, my NH-D14 does everything I want it to. As long as someone isn't using a push-push fan configuration, cooling would be fine. Hell, you can stick to a stock cooler and still be fine.
