I just got a pop-up from avg saying "We have blocked this page due to it trying to hijack your internet bla bla bla".

I looked at the link and it was one of those phony fake virus scanner websites. Why would something like that happen at eGO? Btw, I have no viruses on my computer at all.

Haven't seen many ads quite as cheap as that sounds, my suggestion is to get an ad-blocker, disable it on the eGO site and block anything avg flags manually.

Also, any other tabs you had open at the time could have also contained the flagged content, including in-game browsers and anything capable of displaying html.

This time I got another one. It was one of the fake antiviruses, and was all like "YOU ARE UNPROTECTED BUY ANTIVIRUS 2 TODAI!"

I spelt today wrong because they always spell something wrong xD

That's generally because It loads eGO, then tries to get data from other shady/blacklisted sites via the ads. Its really nothing to worry about

I've had avast! do this to me a few time on fps banana and here. One of the administration said it's just a false positive. No pop-up or anything, avast just saying a trojan was found and was terminating the connection.

As said above it was Avast giving a false positive, one thing you must be extremely wary about though are those websites saying your computer is infected and needs immediate cleaning. With those websites no matter what you press, whether you hit OKAY or CANCEL or even the X on your web browser it uploads some sort of virii into your PC, what you want to do in that situation is cntrl>alt>delete and exit your web browser process that way immediately to keep any problems from occurring in the future.

if on opera update your URLfilter.ini if in FF just get AdBlockPlus there issue solved.

also disable java and scripts on all pages but the ones that need it and you trust
