GIMP, is frustrating, annoying, long, and tiring program. After my 3rd time using it and rendering things it hurt my arm so much. I read about 20 Tutorials and its too hard. I don't need a Sig, its just a forum i look, reply, post. I don't need a fancy pic to show off. I even tried to use this for personal use like making my own wallpaper, but its too hard and it getting annoying having to start over every time i come back from a save. Either im doing it wrong or they have to make it easier. Im sorry but its not working for me.

Did you try using photoshop ? It is much easier than GIMP but it is expensive. Photoshop is a must for what you want to do.. if you want still to do it.

Lol no program will come to you easy my advise to you is look up tutorials and just make a bunch of sigs, give it a couple weeks. Thats what I did and now I'm almost decent at making them.

Never give up, if you take one thing out of all these posts it should be this: DONT GIVE UP. You think you can pick up a mouse and some renders and spit out awsomeness? NO! Give it time, pratice and some love. If you'd like I will give you some pointers or lessions in disign or PS if you get it.

Well, sorry to hear you're discouraged...it did take me a while to get used to GIMP and at times frankly I think "wouldn't this be easier in paint.net" but I still love experimenting and messing around. I'd advise you give it a rest and try again once the red mist has settled

I don't think it'd be wise to keep that sentence about how you got a hold of Photoshop. Juuuuuust a heads up before a mod / admin sees.

My advice is don't work with the tutorials... none of them ever made sense to me and I've learned a lot in GIMP over time by just messing around and having fun...

of course if it hurts your arm and is unenjoyable then I guess having fun is a bit difficult with it :|

Come to think of it, it did take me a while to learn about GIMP. Have you been to http://www.gimptalk.com/ ? I remember I used to go there a lot, and I learned a lot of tricks, and then using the techniques I learned from copying tutorials I started making my own things (much like people learn to play music).

Trivia: I think I joined there in '06, when we had dialup. Imagine my frustration at tutorials that were one giant image with text in it.

Wow I could not imagine giving up after just a couple days - I own an advertising agency and am self taught using the Adobe CS suite (all the way back before there was a CS Suite - lol). I look at my early work from years ago and go wow what was I thinking - and I still learn some new technique or shortcut regularly.

Keep at it, nothing worthwhile comes easy ;-)

Hey man its practice practice practice. Just because your arm hurt, and maybe your art didn't look too great, doesn't mean you should just quit. See my signature? I wasn't that good the first time I made signatures. Mine used to look real bad. I've been using GIMP for 3 years, practicing all the time and I'm almost getting to be really good.
