Right now I have some old Altec Lansing speakers. Ive had them for about 3 years now, so its time for an upgrade. Now that ive been working enough, I can definitely look into spendin a lil more on speakers. What I really want is a 2.1 speaker setup. Dont necessarily need a 4.1 (if that even still exists), but if I can find that or a 5.1 speaker set for a great price, then ill go after it. Walmart sells 2 different 2.1 speaker sets by Logitech for the same price. They also sell the upgraded version of what I have right now, but cant remember the price.

Anyways, if you have a suggestion for a speaker set, please let me know. Im willing to go as high as $50.

For $50 you're not going to get much. I bought a 2.1 CyberAcoustic set for $40 a few months ago; sure it sounds okay, but the quality is kinda shotty. I know when I get some money / when they break I'm going to buy a nice 5.1 Logitech set.

Can't go wrong with Logitech, but for what you're asking I'd check these out. In my opinion, it'd be better to get a higher quality 2.0 set, than a cheap 2.1.

Make sure you use Bing Cashback, I think Buy.com gets ~7% cashback from purchases.

yea.. they are a little bit overkill. they were originally set up on our htpc but my dad bought a new set and gave em to me. they are brilliant tho :)

I have my Notebook Connected to my rooms 7.1 surround sound system, Obviously it will be more money then normal speakers but if you already have one, it might be an option.

I don't know the prices in the USA but I would highly recommend Logitech 5.1 X530.
70 watt RMS and surround sound.Check it out;)
