Hey guys, well kinda as the title says, I'm looking for some sort of mentor.
I'm trying to get back into scrimming and matches and stuff like that, but I'm gonna need some help.
For example, I've completly lost all strategies on any map I used to play, and my skills haven't gotten much better ever since I stopped playing for quite a while either.

So basically, I'm looking for someone to train me, teach me the tricks of the trade, and don't get annoyed by my stupid mistakes :P

I just hope there will be some good responses to this request.
PM me if you're more comfortable with it :o

Well, I'm not willing to be your personal trainer, but I can give you some advice on how to get your in-game smarts back up. Visit www.gotfrag.com, make an account, go to css section, then demos and watch some demos of good players scrimming, that way you can see how it's done nowadays. As far as your shot goes, death match a lot and do some aim mapping. I will post a few servers on here that you can benefit from.

69.65.40.232:27015 - pistol only death match
66.230.188.38:27017 - dust2 death match
66.150.121.25:27015 - dust2 death match with better players on it.
74.63.238.134:27015 - cevo pro death match, you'll find notable good players on this server.
74.63.238.134:27014 - cevo pro death match, you'll find notable good players on this server.
74.63.238.134:27016 - cevo pro death match, you'll find notable good players on this server.

I'd rather not go PMing people I don't know, but thanks a lot for the reply atleast :)
I don't really want to be a bother heh, just trying to hone my skills.

Thanks a lot, I will be sure to check out those clips, as well as those servers.
It's good to know people want to help out still these days, I've had bad experiences with previous communities/clans but this community, greatest ever.

really the best way to learn is to just practice. you def don't want to take instruction from me anyways, but the more you play the better you will get.

There really isn't any "tricks" to becoming good. It's pretty straight forward, just do a lot of IRC scrims or ring and get a team together and figure out strats together. Also, playing ESEA helps a ton but I doubt you want to get into that since it's a little more hardcore and you have to pay, it's the perfect place to practice. Aiming is all on your own. The one thing you do want to do though is just play smart, watch the sites and just don't push like crazy, learn when to peak etc. You can't really teach that. Playing smart is what CSS is about, aiming is like 40% and the other 60% is playing smart.

Only "tricks" I can think of is playing on a lower resolution like 800x600 because it makes the head model a lot easier to hit, pretty much every pro gamer uses a resolution this small, team pandemic, team sk etc because it does help a lot, playing on a high resolution makes it difficult on far away targets to hit that small of a head. Also playing with a lower senstivity like 5/11 in windows/ 800 dpi/ 2 in game helps a lot. The less sensitive it is to small movements the easier it is to hit targets from far away, if your far away and it's high you'll be jittering all over the place.

Oh.. and rates

rate 30000
cl_cmdrate 100
cl_updaterate 101

Thanks, these are some good tips =o
I'll be sure to try them out.
[I always have my in-game sensitivity on 1.00 =3]

Just a suggestion, never get frustrated when you play, you will just get mad and rage quit eventually. Don't mind your score or care about how good you are doing just play, oh and if you have a mic then try to have some teamwork.

I updated the post after you quoted it, added some extra stuff.

I tried the resolution thing, but my game started crying for some reason.
Entire hud is gone on low resolutions and my crosshair goes away, stuff like that.
I'll try some more resolutions later

Change the resolution while not in a game, and restart CSS. I forgot to add use cl_dynamiccrosshair 0 it makes it so your crosshair dosen't auto resize. Play on max brightness, and try and lower your crosshair size, small on 800x600 is ideal. Also, check translucent crosshair.
