Need gaming mouse that's not a gaming mouse

Ok, so here's my situation.

I just can't handle a crapload of buttons strewn about my mouse like macaroni on a preschool art project.

I want just five. Two normal, one in the middle, and then a couple more on opposite ends of the thing so I don't accidentally fat thumb one of them and speak into vent when I'm trying to tell me team that I'm being tongued by a smoker.

I guess I'm just looking for a mouse that tracks really well, isn't going to take me longer to program than it is for someone to successfully invade Russia in winter, and doesn't make me look like a tool.

Any thoughts?
 
Logitech G500. They are simple in design but amazing, based off the mx518 and g5. Has 3 on the side and you can tilt the mouse wheel left and right for two more, plus you can click the mwheel down so tech 6 but most mouses have that. It is really smooth, no programming required. Up to 5700 dpi and has 5 dpi settings.

The g500 is by-far the best mouse ive ever owned

This is my mouse, and wouldn't trade it for anything else :P

G500 is really nice though.
 
i was in the same category myself, but i got a cheap g5 for 29 bucks refurbished and i don't regret it one minute. it isn't the most attractive looking mouse, but its decent, and i actually use almost all of the buttons all of the time...it really grows on you.
also the weight kit really does help with perfecting the mouse feel just for you

The G500 is just basically a upgraded G5+mx518 with new features. You could always just go with the G5 or Mx518 if you wan't a cheaper price but you will lose a extra button and the g500s awesome scroll wheel and high dpi/tracking.
 
I've been looking at the G500 and was holding it a bit at work to get used to it.

Does it have better tracking/dpi then the Microsoft 500 with it's bluetrack?

Yes, the G500 is adjustable to up to 5600dpi and the speeds can be changed on the fly. Adjustable everything for the most part. Its a revamped G5/MX518.
 
the most important feature of a mouse is its size and shape as it fits your hand. if you have gigantic man-hands then the razer deathadder is an excellent choice. more medium sized hands might prefer the logitech g500, and teeny tiny hands would like something like the razer orochi.
 
The next mouse I'm going to buy will have those little wings on the side where you can rest your fingers to move your mouse rather than keeping them in a death grip on the edges.
 
Razer Lachesis if you claw grip, Razer Deathadder if you palm. Get the Mamba if you can afford it.
 
IMO the WoW MMO mouse from steelseries is the best. The buttons never bother me when gaming even though it's like 14 extra buttons all over the mouse.

Also, as mentioned earlier, the G500 (Dno if G5 still excists) is the best mouse IMO.
 
i personally love the feel of my Razor Diamondback. I think it fits my hand perfectly, if you need referance to hand size, i wear large gloves.


Heres a link to it, it may not have the greatest specs, but i think its very comfortable!

i have used the g500, it has a funky scroll wheel? didn't like it myself

the microsoft bluetrack is great, but only if you have a problem with mice tracking on your desk; otherwise, it tracks just like any other mouse.

a good reliable mouse could be somethig like the G5 or Razer deathadder

Great mouse for me, since it has no mouse acceleration in it, it helps me I guess.
And it's got a good feel (It's a bit big though)

The scroll wheel isn't funky. It's a very nice upgrade to the G5 scroll wheel, it's really smooth and larger so you can fit your whole finger on it. You may have unlocked it with the button underneath so it just keeps spinning. You have to hit that button again and it works like a normal scroll wheel.

Wha? You can turn off accel in windows on any mouse.
