Two issues: eGO website + steam

The first:

The =(eGO)=? website is ridicolously slow with this particular computer.
I have used the website on other computers and it's working smooth.
I have a 8Mb line so that shouldn't be the problem, I have also checked my firewall, browser and others things that might be slowing my connection.

The second:

Steam doesn't update my friend status to 'playing...' when running these two games through steam: Bioshock and Starcraft: Brood wars.
In addition, I cannot use steam community while playing those games.
At first Bioshock wouldn't even launch through steam, but I relocated the game to a folder where I have most of my non steam games and now launching works.
I haven't had this problem with any other of my non-steam games I run through steam, of which I have 15 excluding the two.
This is a mild issue and I only want to know if it is a steam copailability problem of something with the cause being my computer

What program are you using to surf the internet?
Do you select a .exe when finding a game to play in steam?

I'm using Windows internet explorer 7

And yes, steam doesn't show any other files than .exe so I do select one of those. And it's the same file I use when I'm not playing through steam.

Upgrade to Windows Internet Explorer 8, more preferably the newest version of Mozzilla Firefox. And I have no clue how to fix the steam problem. If your internet is still slow after upgrading though, I have another fix.

i dont know about the steam problems but i know if you use firefox its a lot faster loading than IE in general. try that and see if it helps.

Try upgrading to Internet Explorer 8 or switching to a different browser, for example, Mozilla Firefox.

That means that Steam was unable to hook the Steam overlay to the game's executable. This is a Steam compatibility issue, nothing to worry about.
