I've updated all my rates.
I have a constant 300 fps.
No open programs while running cs:s
the only thing i can think is maybe it's my internet but im only getting 80 ping...
So i don't know.
Can anyone help me lower my choke? :/
it's going 1-8 constantly and making people teleport

I get a lot of choke sometimes, depends on where the server is located and the GSP provider. What do you mean by it's making people teleport? I sometimes get 8 choke but people don't teleport. It usually goes down though. Please elaborate further though.

I have my rates set high for 100tick servers and I get 1-10 choke sometimes on crap servers and our servers (which are 66tick by the way.. what's up with that huh..) anyways, 1-10 choke doesn't cause that much trouble however it isn't optimal.

I'm guessing you already know, but just to check.. what are your values for these settings:
cl_cmdrate
cl_updaterate

defaults are 20 or 30, I think I have mine set closer to 60 though.. Do some troubleshooting and try defaulting these two values, if you still get choke/loss it is either your connection dropping packets OR another program that utilizes the internet causing the loss OR (and this is the kicker) you have a virus/trojan that is eating your packets

If it is your internet connection dropping packets you should be able to see it in the config for your router or w/e. For mine I just type in "homeportal" and go to the connection stats page and it shows # of packets lost 0. Could be 192.168.1.1 or something though if your router doesnt set up a hostname.

What i have learned with choke problems (and i have them a lot) is to lower my CMD rate by the choke amount. Lets say my CMD rate is 100 and i have 15 choke, i would lower my CMD rate to 75 and the choke would lower down to 1 or 0 choke.

And by "teleporting" he means there is an extreme amount of lag where you might appear to be running down a hallway alone and one second later some guy is in front of you with an AK-47.

yeah i've figured the problem, it's my wireless.
Im getting absolutely no loss.
when i plug my internet into the modem instead of the router i get no choke at all.

packet loss is ISP-related, choke is getting too much info from the server and not being able to process it quick enough, you would have to lower your cmdrate and updaterate and rate console settings.

You game on wireless? That's a no-no ruthless..

You could still game on wireless you will just have to find the right settings to fit you on your wireless connection, but as some have said its a no-no but as i'v quoted above, its possible to do with little to no lag.

In match 5v5 its okay to have your rates as high as they will go but in a 32 man server you have problems.
