No first person when recording a demo

I am not sure what I am missing when trying to record a demo in DoD:S. I am told that pressing spacebar will put me into first person perspective but this is not the case. I am in overview and not able to modify it.

I have no issues recording, jut the modification of perspectives. Any suggestions that I can try?
I have searched the forum and the net for information with no results.

Have you tried clicking with your mouse?

try typing in console: firstperson when your watching the demo.

Maybe try not pressing spacebar?

Tried both of these with no positive result. I suspect a reload of the game may be in order but not sure what would have caused this in the first place.

Not sure if you tried this, when specing, try hitting left Ctrl button (this is the default), a bar will appear on the bottom of your screen. On the right side is the section of ways to spec, click it, it is a drop up box with free look, first person, and free overview. Select first person and then hit the left Ctrl button again to close. As a note, mine is screwed up, for a first person view I have to select free look for my first person to work, but my DoDs is special like that
