I would like to get my AMD Athlon IIX2 245 to a 3.0Ghz, Or even a 3.4Ghz if i can

Right now it's at 2.9Ghz

33C on the desktop.

Also I'm new to over clocking so go easy on me!

Do you think i could get my CPU to a 3.0Ghz or a 3.4Ghz without any worry's?

Also could you tell me how to overclock since i have no idea how.

Thankyou.

Also, are you running an aftermarket cooler or just stock? Cooling is very important when OCing.

3-3.2 should be possible. But, 3.4 is a little iffy on a stock cooler.

Follow the link Killzone gave and read, read!

Voltages are dangerous to play with, but in some cases that's the only way to get a stable overclock.

What motherboard do you have?

Motherboards play a huge role on how far you can overclock and to keep a steady system.

With a stock cooler I wouldn't recommend clocking it over 3.2 ghz.

It should be easy to get it to 3.0-3.2ghz without changing the voltage (i get mine from 3.2 to 3.4 ghz) but I've never tried the Athlon II CPU, so my advice here is not too helpful :p

But do alot, and I mean ALOT of research before you try clocking anything.
You never know when something might go wrong.

Also some "wat do naow" reading before clocking in case youre computer refuses starting.

*EDIT*

I can't really help you on the OC in bios part, as I'm only familiar with the bios on Gigabyte motherboards.

Also

Google is nise.
Google is friend.

Get an aftermarket cooler, they are about 50 bucks for a decent air, or like 59 (saw at fry's yesterday) or 79.99 (corsair h50 at bestbuy). those will help keep that CPU happy and cool, because i assume you would want it to last longer rather than shorter. Also i would Google OCing that processor on Google, you should find the exact specs as to what voltages and ect. you should need to get it to that, my 965 is at 3.83 GHZ and I'm running that h50 cooler (its nice because its a sealed unit)

you can OC fine with a stock cooler, as long as the temps remain fine. aftermarket coolers can only help with cooler, so if your temps are fine with the stock cooler its pointless to get an aftermarket one.
to get up to 3.4ghz you'll probably need to bump the voltage up a little bit, which should be fine for the stock cooler if its a small bump. the max voltage is 1.425v which im running my phenom ii x2 550 at that 24/7 with cores unlocked sitting at 3.5 ghz and i cap out load wise bout 62c when running prime95 which is plenty fine. the max temperature for your cpu is also 74c. so with prime95 if you don't touch 70c you're fine and no you don't need more cooling, and your OC will be fine.
as a test, bump the voltage to 1.425 and run it at 3ghz to see what the temps hit. it all depends on ambient temp and general case cooling too. have a few fans in your case if you can and really clean up the wire management will make a big differences.
if it has an idle temp of 50c or something, don't even temp to load test it, just bump the volts down to maybe 1.125 first and see how high of an OC you can get with it. if you want to go higher or think the temps are safe to bump more voltage you could get 1.25 probably fine. with that mobo i believe you can set your temps manually, so it should be no problem to do so.
just mess with the multiplier too, don't do any fsb clocking if its your first time OCing and you're not really experienced with it
