My games keep erroring left and right. Not just on my main pc but also my fiancees pc. Steam did an update and well I keep getting platform errors, and game not available errors. In DOD:S for realism night my mouse was lagging. I would go to aim left or right while in a crouch position and it would lock till I pulled back and tried to move the mouse again. I have deleted steam and re-installed it 3 times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all my games once. Don't really wanna do that again... I have done countless frags and verify the game files....

I dunno what else to do. This is happening on two differnt pc's and it started after that blasted update. Or at least it seems like it did. I am fresh out of ideas

Both pc's are running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

mine is
Intel e7400 oc'ed to 3.8ghz
4gb G.skill 1066
Asus p5k Turbo
Asus 4890
OCz 700 watt gamexstream
2x 250gb seagate sata drives

Fiancees pc is
AMD Opetron 165 oc'ed to 2.6 ghz
2 gb G.skill DDR500
DFI Lanparty nforce4 Expert
xfx 8800gt Alpha Dog
Corsair 400 watt psu
1x 500 gb hard drive

I doubt it is a hardware issue. I built these rigs to last and take punishment. The opty rig is my old rig and it's pushing 4 years old.
The only games messing up are steam games. All my games outside of steam run perfect. The games inside steam are not running so hot right now.

Please tell me it is not jsut me either. I see the steam forums are loaded with errors like mine... I am hoping monday brings a fix or something

Are you having issues lately?

Definition Of steam:

Great idea in theory, however execution is a failure. Steam has errors all the time and even goes down sometimes. As Dane Cook puts it "I hate steam, who ever invented steam sucks"

so it's not just me... I thought i was going crazy lol

I like steam, a lot actually. This is the first time I have had so many problems. I think steam is a great and well executed idea. It saves on paper, it saves on making game discs, it updates your games for you, you can download them anytime, you can play them in offline mode. I like steam very much, no longer are my game discs being scratched or am I loosing the key codes. Steam simplified it for me. It is very practical for a person like me, just these last few days:chair:

I have never been able to play steam in offline mode regardless if the game was multiplayer or not. Internet connection has always been required, On my PC a couple years ago in OSX now or in windows 7 on my macbook pro, None worked.

You are not alone! Since the last update,I can't play any of Tf2 or DOD:S. My games didn't recognize that my steam is logged. Each time I try to join a game, it's said that my steam is offline. I'm stuck with this problem since and I just can see when I'll be able to play my games again!

crasher and oprah are you guys running windows 7 64 bit by chance, or any 64 bit os for that matter?

This is so annoying. My games wont work at all that use Half life 2 files. Like CS:S, DOD:S, INS. My favirote games of all :(

They went from working perfect to not working at all. I keep getting platform errors, exe errors. I am thinking of removing all steam files completely and starting over. That is the only choice left. I have tried removing the steam client and re updating so many times. It just isn't working. Sad part is why would my other pc being having the same exact problem. All games that use HL2 files wont work. My fiancee is mad as heck

Running Vista 32 bit. I solved my problem. My firewall was the problem. I use F-Secure as antivirus and he was blocking connection of my fav games on steam. You should look at that.

Steam has to run in a vista emulation system on Windows 7. That could be the start of your problem. As for offline problems, they are normal when the game is "locked" into multiplayer mode and doesn't want to open without a connection.

Im running mac lol but it emulates windows xp, I also have the 32bit of windows 7 running both do the same thing.

Steam runs perfectly well on Windows 7.
