Whenever i close Steam, which i do fairly often, I can't open steam again without having to reboot.
The Steam.exe appears in Processes when i start it again, but it doesnt open, nor does it appear in Alt-Tab or the notifications areas.

The only way i can restart steam is to restart my computer. Call me pedantic and lazy, but i dont want to have to do that every time i close steam.

Has anyone experienced similar/got a way to fix this?

Um, okay I have done this before, if your using XP, go to Task Manager, go to process find STEAM.exe and then when you found it click 'End Process', after that open Steam, it'll open But you have to login again haha. Hope it works.

Try not having Steam start during start up it could just be getting confused and not finishing its boot.

Have you tried a re-install? Sometimes when you close steam the game isn't completely closed as well, make sure steam.exe and (for example) hl2.exe isn't running as well..
