I don't need Photoshop!

Gimp is fine for me! I mean, I like all the crazy brushes that Photoshop has, but everything on Gimp is fine. I don't even know if you can get more brushes for Gimp, I haven't looked. I just like playing with the gradients and lens flares.

I know these suck, but I like them. Tell me what you think:

Photoshop has a bigger user base than GIMP, sadly. GIMP is a nice substitute for PS, though.

i've never used gimp, but... i would imagine you can produce stuff just as good as photoshop if you take the time and you have the knowledge.

photoshop is only as powerful as the person using it.

ive seen people with photoshop, at times also with expensive plugins/filters, make truly hideous graphics. plenty of times. hehe

Personally, i'm not a big fan of what you posted, they're all the same basic setup, I'd like to see what you could pump out with GIMP though, but as mentioned above, Photoshop is more natural to me

Real designers don't download brushes anyway. You can't really call work your own if you're using brushes that someone else made and stamping them all over your work, can you? I make my own or use the default ones as they're pretty basic.

And I just found out that any Photoshop brush can now be used by Gimp. ROFL

its pretty simple to make your own photoshop brushes. I tend to use the brushes that came with the program and set their properties up to change their effects.

I'm trying to teach myself PS lol... messed around with changing colors and doing an entire back ground change yesterday.. lol

i dont really care what i use photoshop or gimp there are just tools.

i am able to accomplish the same with each.

but i am more used to photoshop because it is what most places have so it is what i worked with the most.

the same goes for any app i prefer pro tools with the waves plugins for music production but that dosnt mean i cant produce a good song with cubase or ardour. these are just tools the more important part is the skills and vision of the one using them.

Lol i'm totally a GIMPer. I've never used photoshop in my life and GIMP works fine for me... only a month ago i learned about brushes and now I download new ones all the time (the splatters like in my sig got very repetitive)

GIMP is truly a wonderful program.. i've always wondered how it compares so well to photoshop and yet is free...
