Valve presents: TF2 Contribute

I might have to do something for this. I'm more into texturing than modeling, although I've never attempted the TF2 style for either.

What I like about this is that it will draw more people to the modeling community. I can't wait.

I contributed 2 avatars so far. I guess I'll try my hand at modeling soon.

Oh man! My dream-loadout for the Scout could soon become a reality:

-Nailgun
-Dual Pistols
-Sack o' Doorknobs

Nailgun should be for the engineer, which would be AWESOME.

Prepare for the community to erupt into creativity.

Are these new weapons just new models of current weapons? Or are they completely new weapons with different effects and such?
(Modeling newb here :P) What software do I need to start making my own? I have access to the Adobe Creative Suite and various other technologies at my school.

It'll be interesting to see what the TF2 community comes up with!

dangit XD i would totally submit some things if i knew how to model...i know what i wish i could make, i just cant make it...this sucks and rules at the same time

This kind of makes me wish they would release a TF2 classic. Maybe I'm just old fashioned or maybe I'm just a stick in the mud, but i liked the original TF2 best. Unfortunately, I can't play that game anymore (downside to forced updates I guess).

Oh well.

I personally use Blender 3D (blender.org) but it takes a little while to learn.

You could also try the Softimage Mod Tool (http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/XSI) I have never used this, but it should probably do the trick.

Both of them are free.

Hope this helped!

oh man this is pretty sweet

if anyone comes up with anything we should post it here!

I have never modeled and can not see my self doing so any time soon. But there might be some good info around the web and here is the valve software wiki http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Category:Modeling
