Do you guys Play with Vsync on or off?
Also would you guys post your gpu your using and the reason to why you have it on or off.

Ati Readon HD 4870 1GB

On most games I have it on, on the less graphic intense games. On games that my computer struggles with, I turn it off, among other things.

Thanks
Tonux

I usually run with it on, I've gone into servers that limit the fps allowed and would get kicked for 400+ fps by punk buster.

My monitor's refresh rate is 70Hz anyway so not like there is a noticeable difference.

2x 4870s btw

On if my GPU can handle it, but I turn it off it it can't.
But I hate it when the game runs higher than 60 when VSync is off, frame tearing is so annoying.

I have a Radeon HD 5870.

Almost every game I've got runs perfectly. I leave V-sync off because it makes multiplayer games more responsive the higher the frame rate is.

9800 GTX+ on sli have vsync fully disabled just because i don't see a difference on my screen and i always like the extra fps

You guys are aware that once the FPS goes above 60 it doesn't matter?

doesn't matter in what way? because i know that when games like CSS drop below 50 frames you see it huge time. especially if its jumping from 150 down to 50 it gets very glitchy

but ya if there is no frame tearing i leave it off. and the ONLY game that i've had problems with frame tearing and have it on with is borderlands

btw vsync is vertical synchronization which basically times the frame change with the vertical blanking interval of your monitor. hence it will lower your frames constantly to the refresh rate of your monitor, usually 60 hz however if your games frames drop below 60 then it will cut in half at run at 30 and so on so forth, 15, 7, blah blah. so its good to have on if you have tearing in your games because it stops it but bad to have on if you get less than 60 fps in most games because then you'll run a standard 30 at all times, which is playable but better to have 50+

That is NOT one hundred percent true, YES the human eye cannot see more than 60 fps, but the game runs smother with higher frames, and idk what is said back, i do notice a diff from 60 and 299 in css....

(also here is a point, if it doesnt matter why do they sell 120hz and higher screens? if it doesn't make a difference? :) )

I leave v sync off, i will not use it, im running a OC'ed ati 4870 1gb, i don't really run into a game that lags my frames, because i don't use a stupid high resolution. just turn up anti aliasing and everything else on a lower res looks about the same as high res... but my screen is a 32" lcd tv, thats sole purpose is for my desktop monitor. I have friends who disagree with me as i know people will on here, but w/e is preference. haha:cool:

Please refrain from using 'sexual orientation' words. We don't allow them on the servers, nor do we allow them in our forums.

I have it on. I have a 60Hz monitor so tearing is inevitable with it off. I have a GTX 285.

definitely off.

Whether im on my 295 or dual 280's I pull enough fps that there is not need to choke it. I very rarely fall below 60 except on company of heroes. But averages are waaay over 60.

I leave it off.

I know there isn't a noticeable difference with it off, but I always feel more comfortable seeing 200+fps than a constant 60.

I have noticed on some games, with it on that it seems to dip lower than when having it off.

If I had a CRT with crazy high refresh rates I *MIGHT* use vsync, but like others have said it doesn't do much good on most LCD's.

1x (XFX) Radeon HD4890 1gb 256b GDDR5

299fps average in CSS

sometimes drops to 150-200 with a lot of env_steam

Off.

60Hz LCD Monitor w/ a single 4870 1GB (Paired with a OC'd i7 920) pull at the lowest 40fps in Crysis maxed out @ 1920x1080 (sad no 1200)...
