I'm having trouble playing borderlands right now. Whenever I'm playing the screen always looks like it's refreshing and I don't know how to stop it. It annoys my eyes and makes it unplayable for me. How can I fix this?

I also want to know how to max out the game to it's full potential because there aren't many graphics options to choose from. :x

AMD Phenom II X4 955
ATi Radeon 5750 1GB

Maybe you could get a new graphics card.

hrm...what settings do you have it on right now?? sometimes dynamic shadows really screws up in the game, and the only way to fix it is to restart the game or if you're lucky if you lower the res and put it back to normal, or put the game in windows mode then back it will fix it.
because im a little unsure what you mean by it looks like the game is refreshing all the time, do you have a screenshot or short video?? it could be the tearing in the game, because borderlands has MASSIVE tearing. to fix it download THIS application and run it (can be placed anywhere on your computer) and enable VSYNC. even if it isn't the tearing that you think the problem is, do it anyway because it will help a lot...that game just tears all the time anyway.

also with that video card you should probably be able to run most everything on high, but maybe AF off at a decent resolution such as 1680x1050

I don't know what refreshing equates to, but if you're talking about alt-tabbing and re-tabbing to find the dynamic shadows messed up - then you should be able to alt-tab until it fixes itself. It used to fix in one alt-tab, but recently I've had to do it 5-10 times with no luck, but fixed it by restarting me computer after exiting the game and re-entering didn't fix it.

Supposedly the latest Borderlands patch fixed the shadow problem, but now it still does the same thing for me, just with different shadow shapes.

I think JunK is explaining my problem correctly. I didn't know the correct term was "tearing". My bad. I'll try that app and post my results.
