a pro tools hd system can easily cost a $10,000

My Sony ACID was like.....$299 I think. I don't remember.

Not to troll, but 200$ isn't a lot of money for musical equipment or software.. :-\

Pro Tools was the best I've ever used. FL Studio is cheap but does alot of stuff, though the quality isn't top notch.

I can do drum work, but it would be helpful to know what kind of song is getting done (slow, fast, jazz, or rock..big differences)

ya when it comes to pro audio systems things get pretty expensive fast.

pro tools hd and the dsp card and a 16in/16out Digidisgne 192 A/D converter will take you up to 10,000ish. (and the is the minium to get a working pro tools hd setup with no mics or cables or anything)

than add your preamps which if your getting something good like focusright or true will go for about 6,000 for a rack of 8 and you need 16 or more.

oh and i forgot all of the really expensive custom cables that a hd system needs.

that is pretty much a very minimal pro setup it olny goes up from there especially if you want some gear like 2inch tape machines or some nice portico neve preamps and compressors.

and a neve console will run you up to 60,000.
