I agree with the fact that just connecting to the net is putting your computer at risk. A friend of mine had a porn dialer from just connecting to a website and cleverly popping up an error message. I think what I will do (when we get a new family computer) is re-format this computer and get kaspersky. This looks like a good bit of kit and will prtect my PC. Thanks for your opinions guys, they helped alot.

JUST GET NORTHON WHIT CRAK !
kapsersky every single time! Its simply the best anti virus i have ever used and i have yet to read a negativ review about it.
In terms of additional web saftey i would reccomend zone alarm as a fire wall then get some additional spy/ad ware stuff.
OH and guys if you are insistant on you torrent downloads etc you simply MUST go and download a program called peer guardian. No dont ask me what it does - go google it and read up on it when u have the download running!!!lol
Also for good web security check out the web browser that your using. Simply dont use internet explorer end of story. Opera and Firefox are two of the better choices and if you get firefox and install the No Script extension you will be as secure as fort knox!
