Horrible laptop, anything i can do?

I have a Compaq Presario CQ70-120US, and most of the newer games out there are really unplayable , even tf2 is a bit choppy sometimes. And I would like to get the game Global Agenda when it comes out , but im afraid that it wont be playable, is there anything i can do computer wise to make it so its at least playable?(besides buying a new one)

Heres my computer specs

Microprocessor Cache 1 MB L2 Cache
Memory 3072 MB
Memory Max Up to 3 MB DDR2
Video Graphics Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD

There really *isnt* a lot you can do with laptops besides upping the memory. Try playing things on minimal video settings
 
I play tf2 on low settings already, but im not sure that ill be able to play global agenda even on low settings
 
i believe they are, its all this dumb integrated graphics card, doesnt leave any room for improvement
 
Yeah, Integrated's a killer, any idea what the integrated is actually running?
You should be able to find it in dxdiag in the display tab
 
Ya the integrated is a real killer. Only way I can think of upgrading it would be one of those external graphic card kit thing. I have seen them before used on an integrated laptops but have no idea where to find one and the pricing on them.
I would imagine them to a bit on the expensive side but I would look into it if you really want to to be able to play any of the new games coming out.
Also look if it is even compatible with the laptop you have.

Kidding. 3072MB is the same as 3GB, for future references.
 
its pretty hard to do stuff with a labtop, what you get is what you get, i know there are ways to upgrade the internals of a labtop but its extremely expensive and cost alot of teh $$$

bottom line is if you wanna run games youd have to, pay ALOT of money and upgrade your labtop (somehow), build your own desktop top, or if buy a gaming labtop like i did *only because a very large tax return* lol
 
I was looking into the external video cards and they dont really seem that expensive, but i really dont know which one would be the best, any help?
 
What I found so far was a ViDock2 which I think comes with a ATI 4670(separate or included I do no know)
No Idea where to pick one up or even if there is an updated one with a better gpu. Maby someone can shed some more lite on this?

i think i would like to build my own desktop rather than buy one, but id probably have a budget of around $500
 
You're running a 64bit OS right? Because if not some of that 3GB could be going to waste.

Also it could just be your computer is getting stuffed up. I know a LOT of people who have problems gaming because of spyware/adware/viruses they don't know about. That or their computer just hasn't been kept properly and they have files and programs running out their ears. If you have like 20 applications running in the background it could be slowing down your computer enough to affect your gaming.

HP printer drivers, adobe stuff and automatic updaters often run in the background to make the applications they're connected with "appear" faster, at the expense of your entire computers performance.
