Need major Vid Making help, stat!

I have spent a few days, a total of around 15 hours, trying to go though 4 demos I have and pick out the times I did good. If I use 'startmovie Heavy avi' most the compression options make a 0KB movie clip that windows media says is broken and VirtualDub says is 'empty'. :facewall:

If I use the Xfire option, the recording comes out small, green, blocky, and with scanlines. :facewall:

If I DO NOT compress, a 30 second clip is 1.2 gigs and, on top of that, is laggy, choppy, and ugly-looking when I run the clip back. :cursing: Though the quality could be because I am running it in windowed, 800x600 mode so I can look up the console commands I need.

I need help! I have a lot of melee kills and some good tauntkills I want to make into a montage but I can't seem to pull them from the demos properly! HEEEEELLLP! :crying:

are you trying to record from game or from demo?

From demo. I do 'record Heavy1' to make a demo, then, later, open DemoUI, load the demo, find a part I want, go 100 ticks back, close demoUI, and start recording with 'Startmovie Heavy avi'.

There is where the trouble starts.

Uncompressed, 30 seconds =1.2 gigs.

Most compression options make 0kb 'empty' avi files.

The one or two that work are blocky, ugly, laggy, and/or green with scanlines.
