L4D2 Error

Sigh. Left 4 Dead 2 kept crashing today. FInally, it gave an error

'Could not load library client'

So I uninstall L4D2 and reinstall it..and I STILL GET THE ERROR! :cursing: :facewall:

Can someone help me? :\

Edit: I just validated and '3558 files failed to be validated and will be reacquired'. Wow. :\

right click L4D 2 in steam games list, left click properties, open local files and click Verify integrity of game cache, then steam should update it.

This is a common problem, all you need to do is get the Client.dll from your HL2 folder here (
steam -> steamapps -> (your name) -> half-life 2 -> hl2 -> bin)

and move that to the corresponding folder in L4D2.


steam -> steamapps -> (common) -> left 4 dead 2 -> left4dead2 -> bin

Be sure your copy and pasting - not moving the file!

It worked after I did the verifying thing..but it seems to load maps about 50% slower now.. :\
