ok when ever im in a game, and i go to the desktop. it wont alow me back into the game, or if i 'Quit game' i have to ctrl+alt+del to end hl2.exe

Yeah thats pretty much an all around steam problem, Which is one of the many of them.

yea, i have alt tabed before and it ticks me off cause then i have to opean task manager and end hl2.exe b/c the game wont load back up or anything, back when i was running windows 7 it worked so idk if its b/c of vista or what :/

It ha been happening to slot of people lately. You can open the in windowed mode and that will work

Can you post your computer spec?

Most videocards cannot handle alt-tabbing. It is a resource intensive task.

Its a vista thing. My XP on my desktop and Windows 7 on my laptop do alt + tab things just fine. When my laptop had vista on it - it sucked at alt + tabbing......

my specs at the moment are mainly video card is g45/43 intell graphics. its not the card b/'c i can do it just fine in windows 7

Vista (and Windows 7 to a degree) have problems alt tabbing out of a fullscreen game, to the desktop and back in. As said above, run it windowed and it'll work fine

the way I run it to avoid alt tab problems is windowed mode.

I just goto the game in steam and set the launch options:

-windowed -novid -condebug


That way I always started in windowed mode, it skips all starting videos and it records everything in the server to a log file.

Yeah, that makes a ton of sense. On windows it runs natively.. On mac you're going to have to run it through Cider or a similar program.

To the OP: I believe it's a bug with Steam; it happens to some. The only solution would be to run it in windowed mode.

id love to but OSX wont run on a home brewed computer, and i cant justify buying a computer for about 2 grand
