dish network / att dsl to u-verse

a representative convinced my parents to switch to u-verse fiber optic combo (phone, tv, and internet). anyone have any thoughts if this is a good or bad move? seems good, but thats just me :confused1:
 
My parents use att dsl and directv, they are laying down fiber in our neighborhood now so they will likely switch when the time comes. The internet speeds are supposed to be really awesome. Make sure to ask the company if the fiber goes to the node (local box) or all the way to your house.

One of the main advantages of ATT Uverse is the whole home dvr. You only need one dvr and you can watch the shows on any of the other boxes in the house because they are all networked.

We tried to get it installed at my apartment initially but the lines in the apartment complex were jacked up. I did learn some cool info though. It can use the existing phone lines in the house to network. It can also use straight up coaxial if you prefer that.

The HD Guide looked really cool and is WAY better than anything time warner has. Yes i have time warner right now.. The guide is terrible, but hey.. its cheap. That would probably be ATT's only short fall. U-verse TV is expensive..
 
i know it goes to the node, and the fiber optics stop at the house and use coaxial to transmit to television, the DVR is better than Dish network right now because we only have 2 tvs with dvr capability. another good thing about uverse is all receivers (one for each tv) are hd ready, another good plus for multiple hdtvs. the internet speed wont be much of a boost, i had upgraded dsl from att at about 6-5mb downsteam
 
Thats pretty cool though, they probably are preferring to stay with the same company anyways
 
I have Uverse (tv and internet, don't need a home phone lol) and it's pretty good, been using it for over 2 years now and whenever I move I take it with me
