So just how fast is NVIDIA's Fermi graphics card? We find out.

So why is it over twice as fast as GTX 285 here? The main reasons are that whilst the GeForce GT 200-series can run both PhysX (compute) and graphics on the same GPU, Fermi's considerably faster switching time between the two - about 20 microseconds - helps keep performance chugging along with only a minor frame-rate hit. Fermi's greater on-chip cache - now there's a dedicated L1 for load/store operations - also assists in ensuring performance is solid when running more than one workload.

It's about 25% slower than a 5970. I can't wait for this to hit the market, so the prices of the 5970 will drop.

Fermi is promising........their fastest single GPU is definitely "fast" more than doubling the GTX 285 in almost everything. Too bad its gonna be so expensive :(

If the 5970 dips into like the $400's omg epic!!! it will eventually dip into the $300's though just like the 4870x2 did

Im still waiting for non-reference 5970's/5870's but they are extremely slow to roll out.......5970 is impossible to find now also, almost like its been taken off the shelves

Im willing to wait longer to see some nice rebates/price drops and the fermi lineup

Is that the same benchmark as this?

Lots of people saying it's fake.

5890 is not going to see the $400s anytime soon.... the prices are still inflated because of production problems... :)

I would love to get the 5850 for $250... I would consider that greatness... but then again... the 5890 may be pushing close to a bottle neck else where.

lol im guessing you mean 5970

It will happen.......by 6 months it will definitely be much cheaper, but when fermi launches, i give it a couple weeks before you start seeing price drops

the camera being used is really crappy also.......the whole video is skipping, not only the monitors

Well it would be really great if it was real. But, just kind of fishy.

Especially since no one has any clue who these guys are or how they got a hold of the card, no pictures of the card, or any evidence inside Windows that shows what card was being used.

I've seen multiple videos with that setup though........dual monitors with dual G19's etc...

It doesn't really matter to me if that video is fake or real, the benchmarks posted are real and thats all that matters

ATI budget FTW!!

this isnt the only fermi card though, right? If i understand correctly theyve been showing off the GF 100. And the gf104 is supposed to be faster than the 5970 by a bit, so im curious to see what kind of performance that will bring.

no its not the only one.........this is just the fastest single fermi GPU

Yes they are making a dual-gpu Fermi i believe and it will be claiming the crown as usual, Nvidias whole purpose.

They are saying that the lower-end Fermi gpu's will be released before the high end ones start coming out; basically like this fermi and the dual-gpu one.

darn, im aiming to buy one of those GF104's, i think thats the dual one. RELEASE ALREADY lol. :chair:

Ev!L Shenanigans . Can anybody please explain why Nvidia's prices went up a bit after ATI's release of the 5000 series GPU's?

nope.........less supply most likely. Prices are jacked up ridiculously though, wouldn't recommend anyone buying them.
