Hey, eGO community, I'm trying to build a gaming PC from the ground up and I'm coming to you for help. What I want to know is if the following is a good PC (or a functional PC at all) that will last me until I want to play games like Crysis.

Here are parts I already have:
8GB of DDR2 RAM
1TB SATA Hard Drive
AMD Anthlon II X2 240
ATI Radeon HD4550
SATA CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive

Here's what I intend on buying:
Rosewill Challenger ATX Mid Tower Case
Biostar TA790GXE
hec X-Power Pro 600
Windows 7 OEM

And eventually getting 2 fans for the optional sides on the case and upgrading to a Radeon HD 5750

Thank you in advance to any help!

Looks like a pretty solid build, I suggest a more powerful power supply, maybe a 550W or 600W. I recently bought this one. Its pretty solid, no problems so far, and its silent, I can barely hear it. Also maybe a better motherboard I don.t know much about that brand but Asus is pretty good. The rest looks pretty good for a budget build, idk if that ATI 4550 will be able to run Crysis very well but the 5750 should be able to on medium/high settings.

Yeah, I was planning on using the 4550 to get through Mirror's Edge, Mass Effect and play TF2. When I get through those games, then I'm moving on to Crysis with the 5750. Thanks for the advice, I'll use that power supply and check out what Asus has to offer!

This is a good one if you only need 1 PCIE slot. But this one is good if you want 2. the first one is a little newer model.

Actually, it seems that the second one you posted and the one I saw are almost identical except for HDMI and CrossfireX Scaling.

that ocz only holds 36amps on the 12v rail, not good if you want to upgrade video cards in the future, and at only 500w ya...might be fine for the 5750 but i hear of a recommended 40+ amps on 12v rail for the 5000 series.

i'd get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817148040
its cheap, will work well, shouldn't have a problem with it.
umm and the 5750 won't play crysis amazingly with that cpu combo, but it will do well enough at lower resolutions, most likely medium to high settings at something like 1680x1050 with averages of hopefully 25-30 fps

Thanks, Junk. As I said earlier, when I get through the games I've had sitting in steam because I can't run them, I'll set my sights for upgrading to run Crysis (which still looks sweet at medium) on high. Or I can get Crysis Warhead on the PC I'm building and then upgrade later on for Crysis.

Forget the 5750. Boost up the cash, and pick up a 5850. They might even drop in price later this year.

EDIT: The 5850 destroys crysis at very high.

the 5850 is amazing but you'll be bottlenecked with just running a dual core especially on dx11 games
