Hello. Let me just say, this is no ordinary "DVD/CD missing" troubleshoot. I have had these problems in the past and knows how to put up with it by going into the regedit an deleting your Upper and Lower filters.
This one, just doesn't like to be fixed =,=`. It has been a few weeks since the dvd/cd drivers won't load, work, appear, or anything. (Right when I need to re-install Windows 7 for codec issues w/ editing videos)
It functions ! It does work. The lights come on, pops open, but I just can't get it to freaking be recognized by BIOS. I can't delete the filers because, well there aren't done. It does not appear in the Computer Manager section under DVD/CD drivers.
(I have 2 dvd drivers I currently used, along with a non using cd driver. And I was testing if it was the IDE cable that was the problem. I plugged it onto the cd driver and it does show up under the"DVD/CD Drivers", but my other 2 DVD drivers that I always used does not. EVER)
This is a problem !
(BTW I got so frustrated that I just pulled out the IDE cable. Then I started my PC, realizing that the optical drivers were still working. So another question is, do you need a IDE cable for the optical drivers to be compatible with BIOS?
